How to Get to Jinli Street
By Bus (Most Convenient):
Taking bus is the most convenient way to reach Jinli. Bus No. 1, 57, 77, and 82 all stop Wuhouci at the Wuhou Temple) Bus Stop. And once you arrived, you only need another 3–5 minute walk to see the main entrance of Jinli Street.
By Metro:
If you want to travel by metro, take Line 3 or Line 5 to Gaoshengqiao Station, and use Exit C or D. From there, walk about 10 minutes to actually reach the Jinli Street. The metro is reliable and fast but expect a longer walk compared to the bus.
By Taxi / Ride-hailing:
This site is about 2.2 km from Tianfu Square. It can take roughly 15 minutes on the road under normal traffic. However, both Tianfu Square and Jinli are in some extremely busy areas, so even traveling on week days, you may still be affected by the overwhelming traffic.

Jinli Main Archway → Three Kingdoms Culture Street → Ancient Opera Stage → Jiupin Snack Street → Zhuge Well → Huanglong Pool → Xishenfang Tea House
Enter from the main archway for classic photos, then walk straight to the Ancient Opera Stage to catch Sichuan Opera or folk performances. Continue to Jiupin Snack Street for the best local bites. Stop briefly at Zhuge Well for its Three Kingdoms story, and end at Huanglong Pool, where lantern reflections and teahouses create the most relaxing atmosphere, and it is perfect for an evening tea break.
Best Time to Visit
Jinli Ancient Street is open all day, you can come here whenever you want. However, we suggest you go in the late afternoon and evening. 17:00–18:00 is the street’s most atmospheric time. Red lanterns are all lit up, they illuminate the traditional buildings with a warm hue. Everything will be in a relaxed, festive vibe. Most shops stay open until about 21:00, while bars remain open later. After 21:30, crowds gradually thin out, and the streets will then become ideal for photos and a quieter stroll.
It’s also wise to avoid major holidays, as Jinli can get very crowded in these periods. However, if you’re traveling to Chengdu during the Chinese New Year, do come and take a look, the experience will be quite different from usual. Jinli and the nearby Wuhou Shrine hold a traditional temple fair together every year (extra entrance fee needed).

What to Buy and Shopping Tips
Jinli is full of stalls selling local food and traditional crafts. For food lovers, don’t miss specialties like Zhang Fei Beef, Three Big Cannon (San Da Pao), Bobo Chicken, Sugar-coated Glutinous Balls (Tang Zhi), Fat Intestine Noodles (Fei Chang Fen), Leaf-wrapped Sticky Rice (Ye’er Ba), and Egg Pancakes (Dan Hong Gao).
One important thing to bear in mind is that street food inside Jinli tends to be more expensive than elsewhere. What we recommend is sampling small portions to enjoy the flavors without overspending.
And if you want to buy some handicrafts, you can pick from the wide range of traditional Sichuan arts. There are Shu embroidery, bamboo weaving, paper-cutting, silverware, shadow puppets, sugar painting, egg shell carving, and other folk artworks. Popular items for visitors include Kongming fans, mini Three Kingdoms figurines, and various artworks inspired by Sichuan culture, all perfect for taking home.
We always encourage visitors to bargain when shopping in such places. A common approach is to start at half the asking price and then negotiate slightly upward. For example, sometimes it only takes 25 RMB to get a small bamboo bag after a polite negotiation.
