This 4 days Shanghai Xian tour is specially designed for those who plan to deeply explore Terracotta Warriors’ home, Xian, after their visit in Shanghai. In this tour, you will take flights between the 2 cities to largely save time on transportation to attractions visit. Besides the all-known Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, City Wall, Muslim Quarter, you will also visit the lesser-known Qianling Mausoleum and Famen Temple to get a better idea about this city and areas around.

  1. AM: Our Shanghai local driver will pick you up from hotel lobby by holding a board with your name and then transfer to airport to take the morning flight to Xian (We will book the round way flights and flights tickets information will be sent to you by email in advance).

    Upon arrival in Xi’an, our tour guide will greet you at airport. Then you will be driven to the hotel for check-in and have a short rest.

    Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

    PM: After lunch at a local restaurant, we will visit Shaanxi History Museum. The museum features the Tang-dynasty style architectural, covering the area of 70,000 square meters. It displays the longest and the most comprehensive history of Shaanxi and Chinese civilization.  Although it’s a provincial Museum, the collection of relics here is at national level from both quantity and quality as Xian had been Capitals for more than 13 dynasties in ancient China. You will learn the long history and splendid civilization of China deeply from those priceless exhibits with explanation from your guide.

    Then we come to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda which is a worship place for Buddhists. The pagoda was originally built to hold sutras and figurines of the Buddha that Xuanzang brought back to China from Indiain Tang Dyansty, 652 A.D. Now there is a big square divided into North Square and South Square, surrounding the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The design of the buidlings and statues is in Tang style, showing people the ever glory of that great time. It’s busier in the evening when many activities with Tang elements held by local amateur.

    At last, you will be transferred back to hotel.

AM: Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 08:30 and transfer eastward to Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum which is known as “the Eighth Wonders of the World” with a surprisingly high level in sculpture. It is located 30 km east of the Xi’an City and the original site was found by four local farmers while drilling a well in 1974. The museum includes Pit 1(the largest pit), Pit 2, Pit 3, and the exhibition hall of the chariots and horses. You will stay in the museum for 2-3 hours. Listening to the explanation from the expert tour guide, you will learn the hidden story of those live-sized sculptures and history of their owner: First Emperor of Qin who is also the first emperor of China.

    Noon: Lunch in ;local restaurant.

    PM: You will visit Xian Ancient City Wall which is the most completely preserved and the largest city wall in China. It was built for the military defense in the Ming Dynasty, 1370 A.D. Since it is cycling the Xian city, visitors can ride a bike around the city wall which is optional (cost on your own, CNY45p.p).  The last stop today is Muslim Quarter, the best known food street in Xian. You will meet lots of local snacks and specialties. It would be a good chance to record the local food with your camera.

  3. AM: Our tour guide and driver will meet you at your downtown hotel in the morning. Your adventure will begin with the Famen Temple which is situated at Famen Town, 10 km north of Fufeng County in Baoji City, and 118 km west of Xian. It is a famous Buddhist temple which holds the genuine relics of Gautama Buddha (Sakyamuni). Patronized by 8 emperors in the Tang Dynasty, this temple has become one of the four most sacred Buddhist sanctuaries in China.

    Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

    PM: Afterwards, you will visit the Qianling Mausoleum. It is a Tang Dynasty tomb site situated in Qian County. Built in 684, the mausoleum houses the bodies of members of the royal Li family, including Emperor Gaozong and his wife, the Zhou Dynasty usurper and China’s first and only governing Empress Wu Zetian. After one hour inside the Qianling Mausoleum, you will go to the Tomb of Princess Yong Tai. After the fantastic tour, our driver and tour guide will transfer you back to your hotel.

  4. After breakfast, our guide will see you off at the airport for your Xian-Shanghai flight. Upon arrival in Shanghai, our local driver will wait you at airport by holding a board with your name and transfer to your hotel.
