How to Get There

By metro: Take metro line 4 to Datangfurongyuan Station, leave from exit D and walk about 3 minutes to the west gate of the park.

How to Book a Ticket

1. The third-party platforms, like Klook, are more convenient for international travelers. Both offer multi-language interfaces and international credit cards can be used for payment.
2. For tourists who understand Chinese, you can also book via the official WeChat account of “大唐芙蓉园”. The ticket is paid for via WeChat Pay. Remember to select“Passport” as the type of document.
3. You can also purchase it on site at the ticket window near the west gateof the park. But it is not recommended in peak season and public holidays, as the ticket may be sold out and you have to queue up for a long time.

Tips: Most of the time, you can book the ticket on the morning of your visit date. However, if you plan to visit on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, or during Chinese public holidays, it’s better to book 2–3 days in advance. During Golden Week, make your reservation 5 – 7 days earlier.

Best Time to Visit

Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit Tang Paradise. The temperature is comfortable (10 – 25°C) in both seasons. In spring, various flowers in the garden bloom one after another.  In autumn, the weather is crisp and the sky is clear, making it the best time to take a reflection of the Ziyun Tower.   

It is more recommended to arrive there between 15:30 and 16:00. In this way, you can explore the ancient architecture during the day, capture the moment when the lakeside lights switch on in the late afternoon and appreciate the music fountain show and light show at night.

Recommended Visiting Route

• Classic Tour Route:

This classic half-day tour takes about 3 – 4 hours. It avoids detours and covers all the highlights. To save energy, you can also take an electric car, which stops at all major scenic spots. The cost is CNY 30 per person.

For tourists with limited time, this route takes only about 2 hours and includes the unmissable scenic spots.

• The lake shore of Ziyun Tower: Capture details or a panoramic view of Ziyun Tower. You can also take photos of the reflection of the tower on the water surface at daytime and the dazzling lights at night.
• Colorful Corridor: Frame the lake and the Ziyun Tower in the distance. At night, red lanterns along the corridor are all illuminated and cast a warm glow over the colonnades, making it perfect for Tang Dynasty-inspired portraits.
• Palace Maid Hall & Wangchun Pavilion: Shoot upward to highlight the pavilion’s overhanging eaves against the sky. The riverside boardwalk and bridge are ideal for graceful poses with the ancient pavilion and water as a backdrop.

Admire Architecture of the Purple Cloud Tower and Feel the Imperial Power

The current Purple Cloud Tower (紫云楼) is constructed based on the historical records of the original tower in the Tang Dynasty. It is the center of the Emperors Cultural Area and the entire park, standing as the primary clusters of the Tang-style architecture in the park. During a visit here, visitors will get a chance to look into the achievements of several influential emperors of the Tang Dynasty, indcluding Lishimin, Wu Zetian, and Li Longji.

Learn about Ancient Tea Culture at Lu Yu Tea House (陆羽茶社)

The art and culture of tea drinking came to its peak during the Tang Dynasty. Lu Yu is one of the most famous figures in tea culture during that time. As a tea master, he wrote the first comprehensive book on tea, and was acclaimed as the “Tea Sage”.

The Lu Yu Tea House in the Tea Culture Area is named after the famous tea master Lu Yu, offering a great chance to learn about the culture of tea drinking in ancient China. Also, visitors can enjoy some authentic Tang-style tea and snacks here.

Experience Tang Culinary Culture at the Imperial Banquet Hall (御宴宫)

Combining gastronomy, exquisite tableware, and delightful entertainment, the Imperial Banquet Hall at the west gate of the park offers a glimpse into the Tang Dynasty culinary culture. Beyond savoring imperial court delicacies, the banquet hall also tries to recreate the atmosphere of Tang Dynasty banquets by using the traditional Tang Dynasty low tables, rectangular high tables, and authentic tableware made of gold, silver, jade, and porcelain. Watch the Water & Light Show – Chasing Dreams in the Great Tang (大唐追梦)

Chasing Dreams in the Great Tang (大唐追梦) is a spectacular water, dance, and light show staging on the Qujiang Lake, offering a unique viewing experience from the boat. It takes advantage of lasers, video projection, fountains, shadow, water, dance, and the park’s landscape, creating ethereal scenes, dazzling display of colors and images on the curtain of water, and a series of romantically exquisite dreams.

Through an enchanting boat journey on the lake, visitors will indulge into the dreamscape narratives, glimpse into the Tang Dynasty romances and Silk Road splendors, and encounter Li Bai, grand imperial feasts, Emperor Xuanzong, etc.

Good to Know:

• Visitors need to board the boat at the North Dock 30 minutes before the show starts.
• The ticket for the performance includesthe entrance ticket to the park. But if you only buy the entrance ticket, an additional ticket for the performance is needed.

The Tang Paradise Them Park is characterized by its portrayal of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, harmoniously blending Tang-style buildings, gardens and unparalleled cultural arts. Its layout is based on the design of the original royal garden of the Tang Dynasty.

• It’s recommended to avoid weekends and public holidays, as the park will get crowded at these times.
• The Tang Paradise Theme Park is near to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and the Great Tang All Day Mall. Visitors can easily combine these attractions in a one day Xian tour.
• Visitors can explore the park by either walking or the electric cars. If you are pressed for time, you can take the electric car to see main highlights of the park. The ticket is CNY 10 per person.
• The park is especially spectacular in the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival when it is decorated with colorful lanterns and fireworks.
• Another unique feature of the park is its fragrance project, which is the worlds’s largest outdoor fragrance project.

Attractions Nearby Tang Paradise Park in Xian

• Datang Everbright City: about 600 meters from the park, a 10-minute walk away. As the top destination for night tour in Xi’an, this 2-km-long pedestrian street features dazzling night views of magnificent Tang-style architecture and various street performances at night. And it is completely free.
• Giant Wild Goose Pagoda: about 1.5 km from the park, a 20-minute walk away. It is an iconic historic landmark in Xi’an. This pavilion-style brick pagoda is built in the Tang Dynasty to preserve the Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by Monk Xuanzang. Ascending to its top, you can overlook the city.
• Qujiang Pool Park: about 1.5 km from the park, a 20-minute walk away. It is a free lakeside cultural park where you can experience authentic local life. There is also plenty of Tang-style architecture and you can get around by boat. Also, it sees fewer crowds.

You can rent Tang-style costumes either at shops near the entrance or inside major scenic areas, and each costume will cost you around CNY160-270, while doing hair and make up will charge for another CNY80-100.
