Dai Minority Park – Experience Life in the ā€˜Eastern Amazon’

Written by Veronica |

Dai Minority Park is a cultural theme park in Ganlanba of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan.

Ganlanba literally means the Olives Dam in Mandarin. It’s a small area about 25 miles (40 kilometers) away from Jinghong City (the capital of Xishuangbanna). Only 580 yards (530 meters) above sea level, Ganlanba is the lowest, therefore hottest place in Xishuangbanna. As a result, it produces lots of tropical fruits. There are hundreds of Dai households living here.

A saying goes ā€œIf Xishuangbanna is a beautiful peacock, Ganlanba is its tail, and Dai Minority Park is the most eye-catching feather of Ganlanba.ā€ Dai Minority Park contains five Dai villages. It is dedicated to preserving the culture and customs of the Dai ethnic minority. You can learn about the customs, art, architecture, and traditions of the Dai people.
