Visit the Shenyang Imperial Palace and Marshal Zhang’s Mansion to see different chapters of Northeast China’s history. Then take a high-speed train to Harbin — swapping historic courtyards for the north’s spectacular ice and snow landscapes.
Actually Ski at Yabuli — Not Just Watch
Spend 2–3 hours on the slopes at Yabuli Ski Resort. Beginner runs and basic gear are included, so first-timers can easily give skiing a try. More experienced skiers can choose intermediate or advanced trails, and professional instructors can be arranged in advance if needed.
Stay Overnight in China Snow Town and Watch It Glow
By day, wander past snow-laden wooden houses and famous “snow mushrooms”. After dark, the whole village lights up under glowing red lanterns. If available, catch a Northeast Yangko dance performance and join a bonfire party in the snow.

- Day 1: Shenyang Arrival & City ExplorationNortheast Chinaās History and A Shenyang Dumpling Dinner
After arriving at the airport or train station, meet your guide and driver in the arrivals hall or at the exit. It is advised to arrive in Shenyang before 10:00, and no later than 11:00, to allow time for todayās tour.
If time permits, start with a visit to the Shenyang Imperial Palace,Ā an important palace complex from the early Qing DynastyĀ (1644 - 1722). Wander through the ceremonial halls and residential courtyards, where yellow-glazed tiles, octagonal floor plans, and Manchu-style decorations tell a very different story from the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Admire the historic buildings which integrate Chinese courtyard with Western styles, and listen to your guide share the talesĀ behind them and the history of Northeast China in the first half of the 20th century.
In the evening, have aĀ special Shenyang-style dumpling dinner. Sample dumplings with a variety of fillings forĀ aĀ first taste of northeastern Chinese cuisine. After dinner, go to your hotel for check-in.

After breakfast, head to the railway station for a morning high-speed train to Harbin, a journey of approximately 3 hours. Upon arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the station exit.
Start atĀ Sun Island Snow Sculpture Expo, where you can take your time admiring and photographing the giant snow sculptures.Ā The themes and designs change each winter, from Chinese zodiac figuresĀ to mythical scenes. You can also see the sculptures from different countries with diverse styles.
Snow sculptures in Harbin Sun Island Move to Harbin Ice and Snow WorldĀ in the afternoon. During the day, see the ice sculptures and large ice buildings. If time permits, try activities such as the Snowflake Ferry Wheel and ice sliding. Stay until nightfall to see the park lit up with colorful lights and view the ice sculptures.
After the tour, return to your hotel to rest.
Travel Tips:
- The park is colder than in the city center, so dress in three layers: a quick-drying base layer, a fleece or wool mid-layer, and a thick windproof down jacket to stay warm.
- The super ice slide and the Ferris wheel are the most popular attractions. Expect queues of at least two hours during holidays.

Drive about 3 hours to Yabuli Ski Resort. Enjoy a 2ā3-hour beginner-friendly skiing session, with basic ski equipment included. Beginners are welcome. If needed, professional skiing instructors can also be arranged in advance. Experienced skiers can choose intermediate or advanced ski runs based on preferences.
Go skiing at Yabuli Ski Resort Continue by road for aboutĀ 2ā2.5 hours toĀ China Snow Town. After checking in the hotel in the town, take a leisurely stroll along Xueyun Street and its surrounding areas. In winter, thick snow covers the wooden houses, rooftops and forests. You may see the distinctive "snow mushrooms".
As red lanterns light up the snow-covered village at night, take in the unique Northeastern winter scenery. If available, watch the Yangko dance performance and join the lively snowfield bonfire party.

Before departure, haveĀ some free time to see the peaceful Snow Town in the early light.
Return to Harbin by private vehicleĀ (5 - 5.5 hours). Due to the possible changes in winter road conditions, the actual driving time may vary.
Visit St. Sophia Cathedral, a city landmark withĀ Byzantine-style architecture featuringĀ red bricks and green domes. Walk to the nearbyĀ Central StreetĀ and take a look at the European-style buildings, time-honored shops and cafes on both sides.
