Or you can take the direct overnight train from Beijing West to Dunhuang (Z137 route), which takes about 22 hours. Currently, there is no high-speed rail from Beijing to Dunhuang.
• Where to stay: Find a hotel in the urban area of Dunhuang, especially near the Sha Zhou Night Market or the Mogao Grottoes. If you are interested, you can also experience desert camping.
