The main section of the Gubeikou Great Wall was originally built in 1368 during the Ming Dynasty, and consists primarily of two parts: Panlongshan (Coiling Dragon Mountain) Great Wall and Wohushan (Lying Tiger Mountain) Great Wall. Today, you will explore Panlongshan.
Compared with Badaling and other well-known Great Wall scenic spots that are easily accessible and extensively restored, this section remains wild and authentic.
The entire route requires a full hike with no shortcuts, so you'll encounter far fewer crowds at Panlongshan Great Wall. So it is more attractive to "Great Wall enthusiasts" or photography enthusiasts who like outdoor hiking, historical sites, and the pursuit of an original ecological experience, rather than mass sightseeing.
The Panlongshan Great Wall under the fading rays of the setting sun After a 2-hour hike along Panlongshan, leave the ancient wall behind and step back into the tranquil wilderness. A 1.5-hour walk along a rural path will then lead you over a hill to Jinshanling Great Wall. There, you can enjoy an hour of hiking and photography.
The Jinshanling Great Wall is a treasure trove, home to 67 watchtowers and 3 beacon towers, each uniquely designed with domed or boat-shaped roofs and remarkably well-preserved.Ā You can freely admire distinctive features like the Qilin spirit wall and the inscribed brick walls, which bear the exact dates and military unit numbers of their construction.
The tourist took photos to commemorate their visit at the Jinshanling Great Wall To capture stunning photos, General Tower and Xiaojinshan Tower provided the most beautiful afternoon light. You can capture the ancient city walls bathed in soft golden light, as well as the majestic mountains outlined in the twilight - these breathtaking scenes are well worth stopping to appreciate and record
