- Day 1: Arrival in ChengduExplore ancient Shu relics and relax in Chengdu
Welcome to our 3-day family trip to Chengdu! Your private tour guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby (Please check in to your hotel a night in advance).
First, you'll visit the Sanxingdui Museum to explore the ancient Shu Kingdom from 4,000 years ago. The bronze figures, resembling aliens, features a surreal aesthetic design and are said to represent the deified image of the ancient Shu ancestor.
The Bronze Tree (3.96 metres high) is another highlight, symbolising royal and divine power in ancient Shu.

While strolling in the park, you might see locals writing calligraphy on the ground with large brushes dipped in water; the characters will gradually disappear as the water evaporates.
After that, visit Jinli Street. It's a busy shopping area in Chengdu. The buildings here look old - they were built in the Qing Dynasty style (1644-1911). Walking here feels like going back in time. You can shop and try some tasty and spicy food that you have never seen before.
Travel Tip: For a more relaxing experience, you can try ear cleaning and shoulder massage at People's Park. Close your eyes and enjoy leisurely time.
Experience ear cleaning at People's Park - Day 2: Panda Volunteer in Dujiangyan Panda BaseBe a Panda Keeper at Dujiangyan Giant Panda Base
Today would be the highlight of your Chengdu tour since you will visit the cute pandas by volunteering at Dujiangyan Panda Center.
Leave your hotel at 7:30 am. After a 1-hour drive, reach Dujiangyan Panda Base.Ā This is China's only research center for panda health and wild panda rescue. YouĀ canĀ see pandas sleeping, eating bamboo, climbing trees, and playing together.
Be greeted by a professional panda keeper who also will give you a brief introduction about pandas; your volunteering day begins!
The main volunteering activities include:
- Wear your work clothes. Clean the panda houses and outdoor areas.
- With the keepers, splitĀ bamboo, wash bamboo shoots, and carry bamboo for pandas.
- Watch the staff feed the pandas and learn how they take care of them.
- Eat lunch at the panda base.
- Watch a film about where pandas come from and how they live.
- Make corn bread for pandas.
- Get your Panda Volunteer Certificate.
After all activities,Ā transfer you back to your hotel in the downtown area.
Learn to split bamboo for pandas Note: You need to book this program at least one week in advance using your passport. If you're visiting during the Chinese summer vacation (JulyāAugust), you are suggested to book at least one month in advance.
Optional Activities: Hot pot is another highlight of Chengdu besides pandas. If you like spicy food, the tour guide can arrange a delicious hot pot dinner for you (If you can't tolerate much spice, a double-flavor hotpot is available). - Day 3: Cooking Class in Chengdu, DepartureCook Sichuan dishes and get a certificate
Today, visit a unique museum themed on cuisine culture, the Sichuan Cuisine Museum, and have a fantastic experience there. You will have the chance to see plenty of cooking utensils from the past dynasties and sample some local delicacies.
The highlight of this interesting museum tour will be learning to cook a couple of Sichuan dishes such as Mapo Tofu and Kung Pao Chicken under the instructions of local chefs. After finishing cooking, enjoy your own cooking.
