- Day 1: In-depth Forbidden City Exploration
At 8:00 or 13:00, your private English-speaking guide will meet you at your hotel in the Beijing downtown area.
Begin the half-day Beijing tour with the heart and symbol of the city, Tian'anmen Square. You can see the Monument to the People's Heroes, which features reliefs of modern history; Ascend the Tiananmen Gate Tower and overlook the whole square.

It functioned as the imperial palace in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1912). 24 emperors of the two dynasties once lived here. There are nearly 9000 rooms, and your guide will take you to visit some important halls and tell you about interesting palace events happening here.
The Meridian Gate of the Forbidden City with red walls and golden tiles Enter through the Meridian Gate, which used to be a place for major ceremonies such as issuing edicts. The middle gate is only accessible to the emperor.
Continuing to the Hall of Supreme Harmony, 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties held grand ceremonies here, such as the coronation of the emperor and the emperor's wedding. Looking up, you can see the 10 beasts on the eaves corner, which are symbols of the highest status. Entering the hall, learn more about the emperor's throne, with 13 golden dragons carved on the back of the chair.
Roof beasts of the Hall of Supreme Harmony Walk to the Hall of Preserving Harmony; this is the examination venue for the final imperial examination in the Qing Dynasty. The top students in the country are here to undergo the emperor's personal assessment.
Head north towards the inner court and visit the Qianqing Palace, which was the emperor's sleeping quarters and the place where he reviewed the imperial edicts.Ā Your guide will tell you how Emperor Yongzheng secretly designated his heir here ā writing the successor's name in private and hiding it behind the "Upright and Aboveboard ę£å¤§å ę" plaque.
Then your visit will be moved to the eastern part of the Forbidden City. At the Hall of Clocks, admire the exquisite clocks and watches from the 18th to the 20th centuries. There are relief sculptures of 9 dragons on the Nine Dragon Wall, with a yellow dragon in the center and blue, white, purple, and other colored dragons distributed on both sides.
Appreciate the exquisite and diverse clock designs in the Clock Hall Take a look at the Imperial Garden where the emperor and his concubines usually rest and stroll. After that, exit through Shenwu Gate.
Last, ascend to Jingshan Park. From the highest three-eaved yellow-tiled pavilion, you can look southward at the golden tiles of the Forbidden City, northward at the Bell and Drum Towers, westward at the White Pagoda of the Beihai Park, and eastward at the CBD. The past and the present are all captured in this single view.
