Day 1: Tongren Arrival
Please arrange your own flight to the airport, or take a train to the Tongren South Station.

Upon arrival, a local driver will be waiting for you at the arrival hall. Then, drive to Jiangkou County for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mt. Fanjingshan Tour
Explore the Strange Peaks in the Clouds and Trace Buddhist Culture
Start your exciting exploration in Mt. Fanjingshan. With subtropical evergreen broadleaf forests, Fanjing Mountain has breathtaking mountain views, steep cliffs, oddly shaped stone pillars, and is the only habitat for the Guizhou snub-nosed monkey, which is why it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018. It collects its main sightseeing points on the peaks: Mushroom Stone, Old Golden Summit, Cheng’en Temple, and Red Cloud Golden Summit.

After you reach the foot of the mountain, there will be a shuttle bus to transfer you to the cable car station. A 20-minute cable car ride will take you to the top, saving you over two hours of hiking. From there, you can also get a bird’s-eye view of the whole Fanjing Mountain.

After getting off the cable car, enjoy a 40-minute hike to the Mushroom Stone. This incredible natural masterpiece has withstood the test of time; its massive square top looks as if it might fall from its slender, column-like base at any moment.

From Mushroom Rock, continue a challenging hike to reach Old Golden Summit. You can enjoy the magnificent view of the twin peaks of the Red Cloud Golden Summit, separated by a canyon.

Cheng'en Temple is an ancient royal temple built during the Ming Dynasty. Thanks to its deep-rooted Buddhist heritage and steady stream of devoted pilgrims, it has become a key sacred site helping Mount Fanjing earn a spot among China’s five famous Buddhist mountains.

The way to the Red Cloud Golden Summit is steep, involving a nearly 100-metre vertical climb via metal stairways and iron chains anchored to the cliff face. It is featured in many photos of Mt. Fanjingshan due to its spectacular silhouette - a giant stone column roots deeply in the ground and splits into two parts at the top. A stone bridge connects the two peaks, allowing you to easily visit the temples on either side.

After sightseeing, the cable car and shuttle bus will take you back down to the foot of the mountain.

If time permits, step into Zhaisha Dong Village. Located about a 10-minute drive from Mount Fanjing, this village is home to the Dong ethnic group, where you can experience their authentic culture and food. You can also see traditional Dong wooden stilt houses and wind-and-rain bridges, and you might even get a chance to enjoy a performance of Dong folk songs.

Day 3: Tongren Departure
Explore Yamugou Forest Canyon and discover the 600-year-old Miao King's City
Today, head to the Yamugou Scenic Area for leisurely sightseeing. Walk along the wooden boardwalk by the clear creek, breathe in the forest air full of negative oxygen ions, visit a Ming Dynasty Tujia courtyard, and explore the abundant wild herbs.

Next, visit Miao King City, a Miao fortress with a history of 600 years and a remarkably well-preserved Miao military stronghold in Guizhou. Walk through the maze-like alleys of wooden stilt houses, check out the Miao King's palace, and you can also watch performances of Miao martial arts and silverwork making.

After the visit, drive to the Airport for departure. It takes about 1.5 hours to drive to Tongren Fenghuang Airport, so we recommend flights departing after 5:00 p.m.
