Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: The Most Classic Beijing City Exploration
Your private tour guide will pick you up from your hotel at the appointed time. Start the day tour in Beijing from Tian'anmen Square, the largest city square in the world. Many important events of New China have been witnessed here. You will learn about Chinese national symbols here.
After passing through the Tian'anmen Gate, continue north and enter the Forbidden City through the Meridian Gate. Once a royal palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, where 24 emperors resided, it is now the world's largest complex of wooden ancient buildings.
Your guide will take you to avoid the crowd and visit the most essential scenic spots in a limited time, including the main hall of the Outer Court, Taihe Hall (used to hold major national ceremonies such as the emperor's accession to the throne), and the core palaces of the Inner Court (the queen's bedrooms, the emperor's place to handle government affairs).
Forbidden City After lunch (arranged according to your preferences), head to the Temple of Heaven, a complex of sacrificial buildings where Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties prayed for peace and harvest. Appreciate the triple-layered blue-tiled circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, and listen as your guide explains how its 28 pillars symbolize the four seasons, twelve months, and twelve two-hour periods of the day.
Last, relax in the Summer Palace, the largest royal garden in China. Stroll through the 728-meter world's longest gallery, admire over 14,000 Soviet style paintings painted on the beams and rafters, and capture the spectacle of the "golden light through the holes" formed by the Seventeen Arch Bridge and the sunset.
The view of Kunming Lake from the Long Corridor in the Summer Palace This is the end of your 1-day Beijing trip, and your guide will transfer you back to your hotel.
Travel tip: If you're tired of walking in the Summer Palace, consider taking a boat ride on Kunming Lake. You'll see a panoramic view of Wanshou Mountain and the Buddha Fragrance Pavilion reflecting in the water.
