What Is Xianren Bridge
Xianren Bridge, also known as Buliuhe Xianren Bridge, is a huge natural karst arch bridge located in Leye County, Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Local people also call it Happiness Bridge or Lover Bridge. There is an old story that people who visit here will get good luck and happy relationships.
This bridge is not built by humans. It is completely made by nature. It stretches between two high mountains across the Buliu River. From far away, it looks like a huge dragon lying on the green water or a rainbow crossing the valley. It is so amazing that you can hardly believe it is formed naturally.
Here are the key measurements:
- Total length: about 280 meters
- Main span: 177 meters
- Height: 145 meters
- Clear height under the arch: 67 to 87 meters
- Thickness: about 78 meters
- Width: about 19 meters
It is the largest and best-preserved natural water bridge in the world. It is very special in the world’s karst landforms. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences call it the most important treasure in the karst museum.
Where Is Xianren Bridge Located
Xianren Bridge is in Moli Village, Xinhua Town, Leye County, Baise City, Guangxi. It is on the lower part of the Buliu River, near the border of Leye County and Tian’e County. It is about 51 kilometers from Leye County town. The drive takes about one hour.
You can find it on maps by searching: Buliuhe Xianren Bridge Scenic Area.
This place is deep in karst valleys and subtropical rainforests. It is surrounded by mountains and clean rivers. It is not over-commercialized. It still keeps its original natural beauty.
Distance from major cities:
- Nanning to Xianren Bridge: about 4.5 to 5 hours by car
- Baise to Xianren Bridge: about 2.5 to 3 hours by car
- Leye County town to Xianren Bridge: about 1 hour by car
It is a little far from big cities, but because it is far, it stays quiet, clean and amazing. It is perfect for travelers who do not like crowded places and want to enjoy real nature.

Why Is Xianren Bridge So Famous?
Xianren Bridge is famous for three special reasons:
First, it has a world-class size. Its span is 177 meters and height is 145 meters. It is one of the largest natural arch bridges on Earth. Very few natural bridges in the world can compare with it.
Second, it has rare and beautiful views. Most natural arch bridges are on dry land or on mountains. But Xianren Bridge crosses a real running river. You can enjoy green water, thick forests, high valleys and natural caves all in one place. The views are very rich and beautiful.
Third, it has high geological value. It is a perfect example of how karst landforms change over millions of years. It is not only a great place to visit but also a natural classroom for learning about geology.
In short, other bridges are just nice scenery. Xianren Bridge is a world-class natural wonder.
How Was Xianren Bridge Formed
Xianren Bridge was formed in three steps:
- Water wore away the rocks
This area in Guangxi is full of limestone. For millions of years, the Buliu River kept flowing and slowly dissolved the rock. It made a huge underground cave inside the mountain.
- The top of the cave fell down
As time passed, most of the cave’s roof became weak and fell down because of gravity and water. Only the strongest and most stable part in the middle stayed.
- The natural bridge was formed
That strong remaining rock stretched across the river and became the huge natural arch bridge we see today. No people helped build it. It is 100% made by nature.
