5-Day Guilin Family Tour: Cave Exploration, Cruise & Countryside

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Guilin
   Wonderful Rice Terraces and Delicious Local Cuisine

   When you arrive in Guilin, the local driver and the tour guide will be waiting for you at the airport.

   Note: You need to arrive before 9 o'clock. We suggest that you stay in Guilin city one night in advance, and we will pick you up from the hotel.)

   Start the visit at Longji Terraced Fields, a large terrace complex. The terraces are at least 2,300 years old and have been honored as a globally important agricultural cultural heritage. There are several ancient villages of ethnic minorities, so your children can learn about the culture of China's ethnic minorities.

   Also, go hiking in the terraces, enjoy the beautiful scenery and take many beautiful photos with your family.

   

   Have lunch in a local villager's restaurant. Learn to prepare regional specialties, like bamboo tube rice. The bamboo tube rice has a long history and unique flavor. Rice and other food are put into a bamboo tube and roasted over a fire, and the rice will fully absorb the fresh aroma of the bamboo.

   After that, drive you back to the hotel for a good rest.

   Optional Activity: In the autumn from late October to early November, your family can experience harvesting golden rice like local farmers.

2. Day 2: Guilin to Xingping Town
   Exciting Cave Exploration and Interesting Family Activities

   Today, enjoy an exciting family trip to a wild cave. You will be guided by a professional coach in your explorations. Besides, play games with your kids, such as shadow games and the exhilarating ‘fast rope’ experience in caves.

   

   Later, have lunch in a local village. Tonight, you'll stay overnight in a camp near the Li River which has magnificent natural scenery and unique geography (depending on the weather). The campground has excellent facilities, so it is safe and reliable.

   While camping, you and your kids can enjoy the peaceful lake view and green mountains, or wait for a beautiful sunrise and sunset. Spend a fantastic time with your family here.

3. Day 3: Village Experience and Li River Scenery
   Xingping Town's Nature and Culture Discovery

   Located 25 kilometers northeast of Yangshuo, Xingping is the most beautiful ancient town along the Li River. This morning, you will take a cruise ship to this town, while enjoying the stunning scenery composed of karst peaks and lovely villages.

   As the ship moves forward, you will see the Nine Horses Fresco Hill, a large rocky mountain with nine peaks connected to each other. The rocks on this mountain are so colorful that they look like giant murals, so we call it ‘Fresco Hill’. And here, climb Xianggong Hill. The hill is not very high, and you can get to the top in about 20 minutes, but the view is very beautiful.

   

   After lunch, transfer to Yangshuo, which boasts the most beautiful landscape in Guilin. Upon arrival, you and your family will explore the homes of local farmers, pick fresh vegetables from villagers' gardens and take a cooking class.

   Optional Activities in the Evening:

   After dark, visit the West Street on your own. This is the oldest pedestrian street in Yangshuo, with a history of over 1400 years. It is known as the "Global Village" because it attracts a large number of foreign backpackers all year round.

   You can also watch the performance of "Impression of Liu Sanjie", presenting the local life and labor scenes in the original environment on the Li River landscape stage.

4. Day 4: Yangshuo Back to Guilin
   Amazing Countryside Bike Ride and River Activities

   In the morning, continue your family tour in Yangshuo. Hop on a bike to visit the picturesque countryside with idyllic landscapes and traditional villages.

   Then you will take a bamboo rafting trip on the Yulong River, passing downstream through limestone peaks, rice fields, and ancient arch bridges. Experience the thrill when going down a small dam.

   

   For adventurous families, we arrange some climbing activities on a natural cliff under professional guidance. Alternatively, you can create a unique landscape painting fan with your kids under the guidance of a local artist.

   After all activities, we will escort you back to Guilin for an overnight stay.

   Travel Tip: It is not recommended for children under 1 meter and elderly people over 70 years old to participate in bamboo raft drifting.

5. Day 5: Guilin Departure

   The 5-day family tour in Guilin will be over after breakfast. A private vehicle will transfer you to the airport or train station according to your flight schedule.

   If you still feel like exploring more, we suggest that you book a flight departing in the afternoon so that you can spend the morning visiting Elephant Trunk Hill - the iconic landmark of Guilin city.

   Shooting Guide: Love Island is the best location to capture a panoramic view of an elephant and its reflection; The first observation deck is the most classic for taking close-up shots of "elephant trunks drinking water".
