Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Harbin Arrival

   Upon arrival in Harbin, your private guide and driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel for check-in.

   Once you've settled in, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy. Head out to catch your first glimpse of the city at your own pace.

   Recommended Activity: Visit Zhaolin Park (free admission) to admire the ice sculptures of palaces, animals and figures that glow brilliantly at night.

2. Day 2: Harbin to China Snow Town by Private Vehicle
   Snow Mushrooms and Festive Nightscape

   Take a scenic drive from Harbin to China Snow Town this morning. The journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. Along the way, see views of Northeast China’s forests, rolling hills, and snow-covered countryside.

   Upon arrival, check in and take a short rest. Afterward, go to Xueyun Street, the Snow Town's main pedestrian street. On both sides of the street stand traditional wooden houses. When blanketed in thick layers of snow, they look like snow mushrooms.

   

   Wander along the street to capture photos of the unique landscape, browse lovely shops, and try local treats like frozen pears, roasted sweet potatoes and sugar-coated haws. Optional activities like snowmobiling, sledding and snow tubing are also available.

   As the sky darkens, walk up the wooden plank road through the snowy forest. At the top, the whole snow town opens up below you. One by one, the red lanterns under the eaves light up, throwing a warm glow across the snow-clad rooftops.

   Then head back to Xueyun Street for the reindeer parade, the traditional Yangko performance, and the bonfire party. Dance along with the locals and lose yourself in the lively atmosphere.

   

   Warm Tips:

   1. The winter temperature in Snow Town can be as low as -20 ℃ to -30 ℃, so wear thermal base layers, a thick down jacket, insulated trousers, waterproof winter boots, warm gloves, and a hat. Also, bring a power bank in case of your phone battery drains quickly.
   2. When booking hotels, confirm your preferred bed type: a double bed, twin beds, or a traditional heated kang bed. Check whether a private bathroom, a shower and winter heating are included to keep you comfortable in the cold climate.

3. Day 3: Snow Town to Harbin by Private Vehicle
   Snowy Mountain Views

   Follow your guide to Yangcao Mountain, one of the highest peaks around Snow Town, rising 1,235 meters above sea level. To reach the top, you can walk for about 1.5 to 2 hours or take the mountain transfer vehicle for about 15 minutes at an additional cost (200 to 300 yuan/person).

   

   On the summit observation deck, enjoy views of the entire Snow Town. Then walk along the wooden walkway and see the forests covered with rime.

   If weather permits and you'd like to catch the sunrise, get up between 5:00 and 5:30 and head uphill to watch the first rays of sunlight dye the snowfield a warm golden hue.

   Return to the Snow Town and enjoy your free time. In daylight, the village reveals a different charm from the lantern-lit scenes of the previous evening. Wander through quieter lanes and paths to take photos of the snow-laden courtyards, trees and surrounding mountains. Or try the popular “splash-and-freeze” trick. Splash hot water into the air and watch it instantly turn into ice crystals.

   

   After checking out, go back to Harbin by private vehicle. The drive generally takes around 5–6 hours, depending on road conditions, traffic, and weather. On arrival in Harbin, transfer to your hotel and check in.

4. Day 4: Harbin Ice and Snow Attractions
   Giant Snow Sculptures and Dazzling Illuminated Ice Buildings

   Embark on an ice and snow adventure in Harbin today. Follow your guide to admire the snow sculptures at the Sun Island Snow Expo. Most are extremely large in scale, reaching tens of meters in height. Their shapes are diverse, from the Great Wall and space rockets to pandas and animated figures.

   Take a leisurely stroll and capture the masterpieces crafted by international artists. Also, you can enjoy snow activities in the park, such as ice slides, snow tubes and snow spins.

   

   Continue to Harbin Ice and Snow World, the highlight of Harbin’s winter festival. The huge park is filled with ice castles and sculptures. In daylight they look clear and glassy; once evening comes, colored lights bring the ice to life and the whole place turns into a bright winter playground. Take your time walking around and looking closely at the carving work.

   If you've booked it, ride the 521-meter ice slide or hop on the Snowflake Ferris Wheel for a full view of the park. If not, there are plenty of free activities, like skiing, ice biking, or snow tubing.

   

   Optional Activity: If you are interested in wildlife, add a visit to Siberian Tiger Park. Ride a designated sightseeing vehicle through the park to observe Siberian tigers up close in a free-roaming environment.

5. Day 5: Harbin City Highlights
   Harbin’s European Architecture, Historic Streets, Frozen River Activities

   Start at St. Sophia Cathedral, a brick-and-wood Orthodox church that was originally a chapel for the Russian Imperial Army and now houses the Harbin Architectural Art Museum. You will see it from the outside — the green onion dome and red walls.

   

   From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to Central Street. This 1.4-kilometer pedestrian street is lined with European-style buildings in Renaissance and Baroque style. With restaurants, cafés, and shops along the way, it's a good place to wander and get a feel for the city.

   At the end of the street stands the Flood Control Memorial Tower, which also marks the starting point of the Songhua River waterfront. In winter, the Songhua River freezes over completely, transforming the river’s surface into a vast ice playground. You can experience a variety of ice activities, including horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowmobiling, and ice fishing.

   If you've got some time, take a walk through Laodaowai Chinese Baroque Historic District. The architecture there is pretty unique — traditional Chinese buildings dressed up with Western-style facades, carved details, and fancy balconies. Definitely worth a wander.

   After the tour, your driver will take you to Harbin airport or railway station. Your Harbin adventure ends here.
