Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: Huangshan Arrival
Welcome to Huangshan! On arrival, your guide and driver will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. You can rest freely for the remaining time, or go out to sample Anhui cuisine, such as the signature dish Stinky Mandarin Fish.
Free time ideas: If you arrive early, you may wander along stone-paved lanes lined with Hui-style shops bearing hanging signs. Browse these stores filled with tea and local goods, and dine at a local restaurant.
- Day 2: Mount HuangshanHuangshan's Magnificent Mountain Scenery
Huangshan Mountain is a must see in any Huangshan trip. Today you will spend whole on the mountain. Ride the scenic shuttle bus to Yungu Temple, where you’ll board the cableway uphill. As the cable car glides over treetops, pale-grey rock peaks emerge behind forests, and valleys gradually come into view beneath you.
Enter the North Sea Scenic Area and walk to Begin-to-Believe Peak. Pine trees root in rock cracks, with their branches stretching toward the valley. Some of them cling to rock faces while others spread wide canopies high above. At viewing points, you can admire pine boughs up close and layered mountain peaks in the distance. As mist drifts across, the peaks appear and disappear in the mist.
Begin-to-Believe Peak of Mount Huangshan Make your way to Dispelling Cloud Pavilion to overlook West Sea Grand Canyon, where descending along stone steps, you can look up at towering cliffs. As you round bends, hidden valley floors suddenly meet your eyes. Cliffside pines and rock textures lie right before you.
If time and energy permit, continue to visit Heavenly Sea Scenic Area. You can gaze across mountain ranges at Bright Summit, and view the lone boulder perched on a rocky ledge near Flying-over Rock. When conditions allow, you may stay here to watch the rock peaks glow with warm sunset tones before returning to your mountain hotel.
Hike in the West Sea Grand Canyon Travel tips:
- The suggested route covers about 4.3-5.6 miles / 5-6 hours. Actual time may vary depending on how deep you explore the canyon and where your hotel is located.
- Access to Bright Summit and Flying-Over Rock is subject to local conditions.
- The funicular railway requires a separate ticket.
- Wear non-slip shoes and come prepared for rain and cold weather.
- Day 3: Huangshan to BishanHui-style Houses and Village Life
Wake up in the early morning to watch sunrise over Huangshan if conditions allow. The sky brightens gradually, while mountain ranges remain dark. Sunlit summits catch warm colors first, then pine boughs and rock faces slowly come into clear view.
After that, go back for breakfast and then visit Dawn Pavilion, Lion Peak and Monkey Watching the Sea. Walk through pine forests to find the monkey-shaped rock on the summit. It leans slightly forward, facing the valley as if gazing into the distance. It seems to sit above a sea of clouds when mist rolls in. On sunny days, you can see layered mountain ranges clearly.
Take the cableway downhill and travel to Hongcun Village. Step into the ancient alleys, where you can look up and spot thin slivers of sky between tall walls. Fine details appear on gate towers, wooden windows and courtyards. Your guide will introduce Huizhou-style dwellings along the way, and you can set aside time for lakeside walks and photos.
Huizhou-style residences in Huangshan Hongcun Check in at pre-confirmed Pig's Inn Bishan or Pig's Inn Old Oil Factory. After settling in, rest freely or take a walk around the inn. Have dinner and then return to your room.
