Walk the old lanes of a Huizhou-style village — Huangling, with its whitewashed walls, grey tiles and fields terraced into the hillside. In spring the rapeseed comes into bloom; later in the year, crops are laid out to dry in bright patches across the village.

In the morning, make your own way to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station or another designated station and take the high-speed train to Shangrao. The journey takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. The specific train number and departure station will be confirmed according to the actual ticket availability.
Upon arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the station and transfer you to a hotel in Wangxian Valley for check-in.

Start today’s tour at Wangxian Valley after a short rest. Follow the scenic trail through the valley, crossing the plank walkway and hillside buildings along the cliffs. Surrounded by streams, mountains, and traditional dwellings of northeastern Jiangxi, the valley showcases a unique blend of natural scenery and architecture.

- Day 2: Huangling Village & Wuyuan DepartureWander Through the Local Villages to Explore Huizhou-Style Architecture
Drive about 2 hours to Huangling Village in Wuyuan County today. After arriving, take the cable car up the mountain and then walk around the village, where traditional residences, terraced fields and mountain landscapes spread across the slopes.
Stroll through the alleyways and observe the layout of Huizhou-style buildings, featuring white walls, grey-tiled roofs, and decorative details such as wood carvings and plaques.
Follow the path to the viewing platform for a bird’s-eye view of Huangling Village and the surrounding terraced fields. Walk across the glass bridge spanning the valley to enjoy the mountain scenery from different angles.
Rapeseed flowers at Huangling Village in Wuyuan in Spring Seasonal tip: March and April are the peak months for rapeseed flower viewing; September - November is the best time to see harvest-drying displays, with colorful crops laid out across rooftops and balconies. However, depending on the season and local drying activities, so they are not available year-round.
Continue to Sixiyan Village in the afternoon. Walk along the stream and quiet streets to see the well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty Huizhou-style houses surrounded by ancient trees and stone bridges. Some courtyards still retain exquisite wood and stone carvings.
Your guide will then take you to Wuyuan Railway Station for the high-speed train back to Shanghai or your onward journey. This marks the end of your two-day trip to Wangxian Valley and Wuyuan from Shanghai.
Tip: It is advisable to book an evening high-speed train to allow sufficient time for sightseeing and transfers.
