On this one-day tour from Xi’an, you will be led to visit Famen Temple and Qianling Mausoleum. Your professional tour guide will uncover the story of China’s only female Empress. When you visit unearthed cultural relics, you can also gain a deeper understanding of the background of some important cultural relics. Every cultural relic here spans thousands of years. After the trip, the driver and guide will escort you back to the hotel in the center of Xi’an.

After breakfast, the tour guide will pick you up from the hotel and begin your Xi’an side trip at Famen Temple. This famous Buddhist temple, located about 120 kilometers west of Xi’an, is famous for a Buddha’s finger bone.

Following your tour guide into the temple grounds, you will be amazed by the magnificent architecture that dates back to the Eastern Han Dynasty. Famen Temple has been a respected place of worship for over 1700 years. The Treasure Museum here houses over two thousand Tang Dynasty national treasures unearthed from the underground palace of Famen Temple. Your knowledgeable guide will explain the spirit of Famen Temple.

After the visit, it’s time for lunch (at your own expense). You can ask your guide for some recommendations.

In the afternoon, your journey will continue to the Qianling Mausoleum, the joint tomb of Emperor Gaozong of Tang, Li Zhi (628-683), and Empress Wu Zetian. It is the most well-preserved main tomb among the 18 Tang Tombs, and the only tomb in the Tang Tombs that has not been stolen. You will spend an hour learning about the stories related to this site.

Afterwards, move to the Tomb of Princess Yong Tai, one of the accompanying tombs of the Qianling Mausoleum. This is the largest and best-preserved tomb of a Tang Dynasty woman. Your guide will share tales of the princess’s life when you admire the intricate details of the tomb.

After the visit, your driver and tour guide will accompany you back to the hotel in the city center.
