During this 2-hour Chinese calligraphy course in Xiāan, you and your family (including kids) will get to know the “Four Treasures of the Study”: the writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. Under the expert guidance of a master calligrapher, you’ll know basic Chinese characters and experience the pictographic culture of Chinese characters; Practice foundational strokes and try to write simple Chinese characters such as “ä½ å„½ (hello)”; and Learn to write your Chinese name (if you don’t have one, you may ask your teacher to create a unique Chinese name for you).

- Day 1: Chinese Calligraphy Class in Xian
At the agreed time, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby and take a VIP vehicle to the calligraphy class venue. Please choose from the two options below:

Option 1: Gao Family Courtyard
As a residence of officials from the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Gao Family Courtyard is not only one of the most intact ancient residences in Xi'an, but a dynamic "Guanzhong Cultural Classroom".
Here, you will learn fundamental skillsĀ including brush holding and stroke movement from a professional calligraphy teacher. Try practicing the character "ē¦" (meaning blessing), "儽" (good) Ā or other characters.
Also, get to know the essential tools, including brushĀ - made of animal hair and used for writing or painting; ink - usually black pigment ground with water; paperĀ - special absorbent xuan paper ideal for calligraphy; inkstone - a block of hard stone, primarily used for grinding inksticks and also serving as a vessel for holding the prepared ink.

After the lesson, explore the historic courtyardĀ and have a glimpse of Guanzhong folk culture.
Optional activity (at an extra fee): Watch a wonderful shadow puppet show within the courtyard. Recognized as a masterpiece of intangible cultural heritage, this traditional opera uses figures cut from animal skins or cardboard to perform stories against a glowing backdrop.
Option 2: Yongxingfang

Yongxingfang Street Folk Performance Enjoy the calligraphy class. After the class ends, take time to explore the area, taste local snacks and experience other cultural heritage activities at your own expense. Your guide will be happy to provideĀ personalized recommendationsĀ based on your preference, such as making fried dough twists and grinding soybean milk with a stone mill.
Afterwards, enjoy a private transfer back to the hotel or you may walk around independently.
