Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: Xiāan Arrival
Welcome to Xiāan! On arrival, your guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. Check in and have a good rest after your long journey.
If you arrive early, you can walk around the hotel area or have some local dishes at a nearby restaurant on your own. We recommend Ma Hong Stir-Fried Paomo (pita bread soaked in lamb or beef soup, stir-fried style) or Wei Jia Liangpi (cold wheat noodles tossed in spicy sauce) in the Muslim Quarter.

Begin your guided tour with the Terracotta ArmyĀ after aboutĀ a an hour'sĀ drive from downtown Xiāan.
Explore the pits and see the vast underground army formation of the Qin Dynasty (221ā207 BC). With your guide, you can compare the warriors' different clothing, hairstyles, poses, and positions to learn how the army was organized more than 2,000 years ago.
You may also spot traces of their paint. Although most of the figures we see today appear greyish-brown, they were originally decorated in vivid colors.

Return to downtown Xiāan and visit a local family. Have a nice chat with your hosts and help prepare lunch together. Roll out the dough, add the filling and wrap the dumplings, then enjoy your lunch.
Head to Big Wild Goose Pagoda SquareĀ to admireĀ the ancient Tang Dynasty pagoda (618ā907 AD) from outside. Your guide will also shareĀ stories about the monk Xuanzang and his connection with Chang'an.

As evening falls, walkĀ to Datang Everbright CityĀ at dusk. Stroll along the pedestrian street to view the illuminated architecture and enjoy the open-air street performances. Your guide will transfer you back to your hotel after the evening visit.

Freshen up in your hotel and set off for Xi'an Museum, a great spot to learn how Xi'an developed as an ancient capital over the centuries. You can browse artifacts from the Zhou (1046-256 BC), Qin, Han (202 BC-220 AD) and Tang dynasties, such as the Yongyu Bronze Vessel, Qin Cloud-patterned Jade Stem Cup, Gilded Bronze Mirror with Beasts and Grapevine, and Tang Tri-colored Glazed Leaping Horse.
Tang Dynasty artifacts at Xiāan Museum Step outside the museum to see Small Wild Goose Pagoda. Wander through the surrounding gardens here and take a closer look at this surviving Tang-era pagoda and historic buildings around it.
Head up the 600-year-old Xiāan City WallĀ and walk along it for a while, looking down on the city gates, gate towers and old-town streets below. If the weather permit, you can also rent a bike (optional) to explore part of the wall. Descend from the wall and pass by Bell and Drum Towers Square, in the heart of the old city.

Experience paper-cutting and Chinese calligraphy. Learn basic cutting techniques and make your own design. Then pick up a Chinese brush, learn how to hold and move it, then try writing a few simple Chinese characters.
Enjoy free time in the Muslim QuarterĀ lastly. Beyond its famous Xiāan snacks, youāll find halal restaurants, traditional shops and old-town lanes. Take some time to wander around and sample local dishes to your taste.
