Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: South Gate Breakfast Market and Antique Market

   Around 7 o'clock in the morning, your private guide will pick you up at your hotel in the city center.

   Tip: To ensure a comfortable experience, please wear appropriate shoes and bring light luggage as we will be walking a considerable distance.

   The tour guide will take you to the first stop of the day by subway - South Gate Morning Market. This place is known as the "Open-air Breakfast Museum". Every morning from 6:00 to 9:00, the area comes alive with the most authentic Guanzhong cuisine.

   Here, many stalls provide various kinds of ready-made breakfast, such as beef patty, oil tea & fried dough twists, steamed glutinous rice cake. In addition to snacks, you can see fresh meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, spices, soy sauce, and more being sold. Hear the authentic cries of Guanzhong dialect and observe the daily purchasing habits of Xi'an citizens.

   Tip: The cost of breakfast snacks needs to be paid on-site by yourself.

   

   After breakfast, look up and see the largest and most well preserved ancient city wall in China - Xian City Wall. The tour guide will take you up the wall to see the complete military defense system such as enemy towers and arrow towers. Gain a unique perspective, experiencing the temporal and spatial intersection of history and modernization.

   You can choose to ride a bicycle (for an additional fee) and every brick and stone you pass by records the history from the Sui and Tang dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

   Afterwards, go to Yongxingfang Intangible Cultural Heritage Food and Culture Street. This is not only a place for tasting authentic Shaanxi snacks, but also a living museum for experiencing the folk customs of Guanzhong, southern Shaanxi, and northern Shaanxi.

   

   Here, cuisine from 11 cities and 107 districts and counties in Shaanxi is gathered. You can taste specialty food in one stop such as Laotongguan Roujiamo and Hanyin White Fire Stone Blanch Soup. The throwing bowl wine originating from southern Shaanxi is a must-try project here. After drinking a bowl of rice wine, throw it to pieces, symbolizing "Ping Ping An An (sounds like "break safely").

   There are also regular performances of shadow play, Huayin Laoqiang, Qin Opera, etc. in the block (some in the theater). You can enjoy the high pitched folk art while eating delicious food, or experience traditional skills such as paper cuttings in the handicraft workshop (extra payment, optional).

   

   The final destination of your morning tour in Xian is the Zhuque Antique Market, a haven for enthusiasts of antiques. You can find treasures like porcelain wares, jade items, calligraphy pieces, paintings, books and ancient coins.
