Stroll leisurely to browse the calligraphy, Chinese paintings, seals and other handicrafts. You may also witness artists practicing calligraphy on site.
Continue to the Bell and Drum Towers, the iconic landmarks of Xi’an. Admire them from the surrounding squares and take panoramic photos. If you visit at night, you’ll see the towers lit in warm golden lights.
Walk to the nearby Muslim Quarter, one of the most famous food streets in Xi’an. Walk along the lively street to try some local snacks, such as roujiamo (braised pork in a crispy baked bun), biangbiang noodles (wide, hand-pulled belt noodles served with hot chili oil and garlic), dumplings, etc.
Taste dumplings in Muslim Quarter Note: If you arrived in Xi'an on a late flight last night, you can rest longer this morning and set out around noon.

In the morning, head to Hanyangling Mausoleum, the burial complex of Emperor Jingdi of the Western Han Dynasty and his empress. Step into the underground museum to see burial items like small terracotta figures, pottery animals and household objects that show aspects of imperial life at that time.

- Day 4: Xi’an City ExplorationExperience Tang Dynasty Heritage, Dress in Hanfu, Wander a Dazzling Night Street
Continue exploring downtown Xi'an today. Start at the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Xi'an Museum. See the ancient Tang Dynasty pagoda and walk through the gardens around it.
Then enter the Xi'an Museum. Through cultural relics such as Buddhist statues, jade, calligraphy, and paintings, learn about Xi'an's development from an ancient capital to a modern city.
Head to Yongning Gate and ascend the Xi’an City Wall, China’s best-preserved ancient city wall. Wandering on the wall, you will see the traditional architecture with gray-tiled roofs and white walls on one side and modern buildings on the other, a contrast between old and new.
Four people ride bicycles along a brick city wall at sunset, with red lanterns lining the path and a distant skyline behind them. If you still have energy, rent a bike for a short, leisurely ride and take in the city views.
Try a Hanfu experience in the afternoon. After getting dressed and having your hair and makeup styled, visit the Daci’en Temple and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Gaze at the ancient pagoda and walk among the historic buildings and gardens. Capture your Hanfu look against the centuries-old surroundings.
As evening falls, continue to the nearby Datang Everbright City, where the streets glow with lights and Tang-style architecture. Enjoy the illuminated landscapes and stop to watch any street performances that interest you.
- Day 5: Mount Hua Day TourRide a Cable Car up Thrilling Peaks for Breathtaking Cliffside Panoramas
Spend the whole day exploring Mount Hua, one of China’s Five Great Mountains. To save your time and energy, take the sightseeing bus and cable car up to the mountain. The cable car runs between the cliffs and mountain ridges, giving you close-up views of the landscape.
After reaching the upper area, choose the hiking route based on the weather and your fitness level. Along the way, pass steep stone steps and narrow mountain ridges and take in towering peaks and deep valleys. On clear days, the views extend across layers of rugged peaks.
West Peak Cable Car over Mount Hua in Shaanxi Huashan Mountain has five main peaks. East Peak features the most breathtaking sunrise and sea of clouds; South Peak is the highest, offering a bird’s-eye view of surrounding peaks; West Peak has a distinctive shape — a blooming lotus; North Peak allows you to capture classic panoramic photos; and Middle Peak sees fewer visitors.
Take your time to stop for photos, rest at scenic spots, and appreciate the scenery rather than trying to visit every peak. If you prefer a less demanding day, just focus on the peaks that interest you. After sightseeing, take the cable car and shuttle bus back down the mountain and return to Xi’an.

Walk along the trails to discover thousands of grottoes, Buddhist statues and inscriptions carved into the cliffs from the Northern Wei (386 - 534) to the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). The Vairocana Buddha is the iconic landmark, which gazes down with a calm smile expression.
