Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Kunming Arrival
   Visit One of Kunming’s Largest Mosques

   Welcome to the well-designed 5-day Yunnan muslim tour by China Xian Tour. Upon your arrival in Kunming (please arrive before 10:00 am), a local driver and your private tour guide will pick you up and transfer you directly to our first attraction during your stay in Kunming - Nancheng Mosque.

   This is the foremost Islamic holy place in Kunming, which its lovely architectural design harmoniously combines the elements of Buddhism and the Chinese traditional styles, resembling a phoenix that is ready to take off and fly. With the great extent of 5,000 m², the mosque had its first construction in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and has seen several renovations since. The prayer hall, minaret, and courtyard are the main features currently. After your visit, you will be taken to a halal restaurant by your tour guide to taste some Yunnan specialty dishes.

   Afterwards, escort you to the hotel in the city center to check in.

2. Day 2: Kunming's Essence & Local Life
   Explore UNESCO-listed Stone Forest and Experience Flower & Bird Market

   After breakfast, you will meet your tour guide and then take the 75 km drive to the Stone Forest. This amazing natural park is a very good example of a karst landscape and was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2007. As if in another world, you will see big clusters of stone peaks in shades of bluish-gray. The first thing to do is to take a sightseeing bus to visit the Greater Stone Forest Scenic Area. As you walk amongst the stone peaks, you will see stones in all kinds of shapes, some of which are 40 meters tall. Nature really is beautiful and magical!

   Next, continue by sightseeing bus to the Lesser Stone Forest Scenic Area in the Northeast where the "Ashima Stone" is the main attraction. According to the mythological tales of the Sani people, she is a young girl who refuses to yield to power and wealth but her only goal is to find true love.

   

   After the Shilin County tour, head to a halal restaurant to have lunch nearby. The next activity is returning to the city center’s Flower & Bird Market to witness the daily life of Kunming people in the afternoon. The flower, bird, pet, fish and other things vendors are present here. The market is alive with flowers of all colors and shapes trying to attract buyers and, what is more, the prices are unbelievably low as compared to regular flower shops. The singing of parrots, bulbuls, and other rare birds is mixed with the noise of people's conversations. In the handicraft section, you could also buy unique items like ethnic embroidery and wood carvings, thereby experiencing Yunnan's cultural charm. Finally, we will transfer you back to your hotel for some rest.

3. Day 3: Kunming to Lijiang by High-speed Train
   Discover the Charm of Lijiang Ancient Town and Tea Horse Road Heritage

   After breakfast, the driver takes you to the train station for the high-speed rail to Lijiang. Upon arrival, a local Lijiang guide will meet you and take you on a tour of Lijiang Old Town. Also known as Dayan Ancient Town, it was founded during the late Song and early Yuan dynasties and is one of the most renowned towns along the ancient Tea Horse Road.

   Sifang Street, the center of Lijiang Old Town and the liveliest mixing point of merchants from all over, has already been pulsating with life since the Ming and Qing dynasties. Here, the melting pot of different ethnicities is Lijiang's major center for economic and cultural interactions. It is not only the rich cultural and economic exchange but also the delicious Yunnan rice noodles in enormous styles that attract visitors to the street with small restaurants on both sides.

   

   Among the 354 bridges that embellish the ancient town, the Grand Stone Bridge, situated 100 meters east of Sifang Street, is the most remarkable one. It is also named Yingxue Bridge (Reflecting Snow Bridge) due to the river below that mirrors the image of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

   The ancient city's southwest corner features a mountain, Lion Mountain, which even from far away resembles a sleeping lion. The Wangu Tower is on the peak of Lion Mountain, which, with its wooden structure and 12600 Naxi-style dragon heads, marks a new record in the world. There, one can have the whole view of the ancient city. After the visit, check in at the hotel inside the ancient city. Nightlife of Lijiang is for you to discover on your own after dark.

4. Day 4: Lijiang Must-sees
   Admire Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Blue Moon Valley, and Timeless Naxi Culture

   Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the most sacred mountain in the hearts of Naxi people and also the most beautiful natural scenery in Lijiang. After breakfast today, you will be taken to climb this silver dragon like mountain.

   The tour guide will pick you up in the hotel lobby and drive about 50 minutes to reach the scenic area. Walk about 5 minutes from the tourist center to reach the first attraction today, Ganhaizi, a natural grassland pasture. If you're lucky, you can see yaks and sheep leisurely strolling, with snow capped mountains in the distance. In spring, pink flowers adorn the green grass.

   

   After that, you can go up the hill by taking the cable car to Yunshanping, the place where beautiful and mysterious love tales originate. It's a famous legend that the new couple of the Naxi tribe who loved each other so deeply that they couldn't live without each other, died at this very spot, and thus every year it is the favorite place of many newlyweds for taking wedding photos. The height of 3205 meters can lead to some passengers feeling unpleasant - suffering from altitude sickness (in this case please quickly let your tour guide know). In spring and summer, the green grass stretches to the foot of the snow capped mountains, blooming with various mountain flowers. In autumn, it turns yellow, and in winter, it becomes a silver world.

   Next is Blue Moon Valley, which is the most sought-after destination in Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The glacier at the peak of the mountain melts and then flows down the cliff to join the clear and seemingly bottomless rivers. Initially, Blue Moon Valley got its name from "Baishui River" as the water flowing over the riverbed made its way through the gray-white marble giving it a grayish-white color. Later, due to the resemblance of the Blue Moon Valley in "The Vanishing Horizon" by a British author, it was renamed "Blue Moon Valley". The water is so clear and the blue lake mirrors the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain nearby, making it very suitable for photography.

   

   There is no halal dishes in the scenic area. You will have lunch at the nearest halal restaurant to the scenic area. In the afternoon, go and visit Baisha Village, the birthplace of Naxi culture. Here, a large number of buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties are preserved, peaceful and quaint, far away from the hustle and bustle. The Baisha mural is the biggest attraction and very precious. All murals were painted over a period of more than 300 years from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty, with a style that integrates Han, Tibetan, and Naxi cultures. You can see horses, flowers, birds, insects, etc. from the murals. After the visit, we will take you back to the hotel to relax thoroughly.

5. Day 5: Lijiang Departure

   This morning is the last time for Lijiang stay. Atfer breakfast at your hotel, your driver will pick you up at the confirmed time and then send you to the airport for your departure. It’s time to say goodbye to Lijiang and the 5-day Kunming and Lijiang muslim tour. Hope to see you on your next trip to China.
