Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: Zhangjiajie Arrival, Transfer to Furong Ancient Town by Private VehicleImmerse Yourself in the Dreamlike Night Scenery of Furong Ancient Town
Upon arrival in Zhangjiajie, your private guide and driver will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel in Furong Ancient Town for check-in. The drive takes about 1.5 - 2 hours, so we recommend arriving in Zhangjiajie before 12:00 to allow sufficient time to explore the town later in the day.
After check-in, wander around the town at your own pace. Stroll along the bluestone paths, pass traditional Tujia stilt houses, browse little unique shops and taste local specialties and snacks.
As evening approaches, this ancient town becomes a fairytale world, offering excellent photography opportunities. From the riverside viewpoints, capture pictures of the stilt houses and waterfall lit up with warm yellow lights.
Tip: Walking is the main way to explore inside the town, so a pair of comfortable and anti-slip shoes is a must.
- Day 2: Furong Ancient Town to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon by Private VehicleHike along the Deep Canyon and Challenge the Heart-Stopping Glass Bridge
In the early morning, Furong Ancient Town is usually much quieter. The thin mist or the morning light shrouds the waterfall and layers of Tujia stilt houses. It is a great time to avoid the crowds and walk around at a slower pace.
Depart at around 10:00 for Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, a 2.5-hour scenic drive away. The canyon is characterized by strange peaks and cliffs, clear streams and waterfalls, and dense forests.
Hike along the trails deep into the canyon. Moving through different sections, you will see surrounding scenery changing from emerald green waterscape to karst mountain landscapes.
One of today's highlights is walking across the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge. It stretches about 430 meters across the canyon, with the valley floor roughly 300 meters below.
Emerald green water and dense forests in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Standing on the transparent bridge, enjoy a breathtaking view of the deep canyon beneath your feet and continuous mountain peaks in the distance. The bridge is also an ideal photography spot for the panoramic view of the canyon and cliffs.
After the visit, take the private car to your hotel for check-in and rest.
Tip: If you are fear of heights, you can skip the Glass Bridge and enjoy the canyon from the nearby viewpoints instead.
- Day 3: Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic Area ExplorationStep into the “Avatar Peaks” and Ride the World's Tallest Outdoor Elevator
Today’s exploration focuses on the best-known attractions in Wulingyuan Scenic Area.
Yuanjiajie is the first stop, where thousands of stone peaks rise up from the canyons and forests. On misty days, the pillars are shrouded in the sea of clouds, as if floating in the air, making it the inspiration for the Hallelujah Mountains in Avatar.
Walk slowly along the paths and see the strange peaks from different angles and the sea of peaks in the distance.
Built into the mountain, Bailong Elevator is the world's tallest outdoor elevator with a height of approximately 326 meters. A single ride takes only 66 seconds! As it descends rapidly, see the sandstone pillars, sheer cliffs and canyons outside the window keep changing.
