Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Chongqing and Embarkation

   Hello! Welcome to Chongqing for a 6-day Yangtze River Cruise tour. After you arrive in this “8D city”, please board the cruise ship before 6 pm on your own at the Chaotianmen Dock. The cruise will set to sail at 9 pm! If you need the transfer service from the airport/railway station to the dock, we can arrange that for an extra fee.

   Tips:

   • There are 12 sub-docks here so you need to confirm the specific boarding pier with your consultant one day in advance.
   • The boarding dock and time may vary depending on the cruise company, water level, weather, season, etc. Please pay attention to the information from your travel consultant.

2. Day 2: Cruise to Fengdu and Zhongxian
   Learn about Chinese Netherworld and Enjoy Immersive Three Kingdoms Performance

   The cruise will stop at Fengdu Port today. After disembarking, the guide will take you to visit Fengdu Ghost City. This scenic spot is completely different from other attractions you have seen. It is themed on "Yin Cao Di Fu (netherworld)" and integrates Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism, expressing the traditional Chinese concept of "promoting goodness and punishing evil". The Naihe Bridge is a landmark here and it is said that crossing the bridge means bidding farewell to one's past life. The Tianzi Hall is the core building, with sculptures depicting eighteen levels of hellish scenes inside. Even ancient literati such as Su Shi and Lu You left their poems and writings here.

   After the visit, return to the ship to relax. The itinerary plans to see "Feng Yan San Guo" (烽烟三国) performance at Zhongxian Port at 7:30 pm. It offers an extraordinary live show which provides a complete sensory experience. Combining the Three Kingdoms (220-280) historical stories with traditional values of loyalty and righteousness, this is a contemporary stage design. Your seat will rotate as the plot develops, with the scenery of the Yangtze River as the stage, making the entire show a constantly changing giant painting.

3. Day 3: Three Gorges
   Sail through Qutang and Wu Gorges and Explore the Pristine Goddess Stream

   After breakfast, arrive in Fengjie County where you will be guided to visit Baidi City, which has a history spanning over 2000 years. Known as the "City of Poetry", countless literati and poets were inspired by the magnificent scenery here and left immortal poems, including Li Bai, Du Fu and Bai Juyi from the Tang and Song dynasties. Focus on visiting the White Emperor Temple, which houses sculptures of Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and others.

   The ship continue to sail into Qutang Gorge, where the landscape was stunning and even printed on 10 Chinese yuan. It is the shortest among the Three Gorges, but also the most spectacular. Next is Wu Gorge, where clouds and mist linger over tall and strange peaks. Among the twelve peaks, the Goddess Peak is the most famous, looking like a graceful young girl. She welcomes the morning glow first every day and the last see off the evening sun.

   

   You will leave the ship at Wushan Mountain at 3:30 p.m. to take a smaller boat to navigate Shengnv Stream. The boat travels through a remote and untouched natural valley which maintains the original features of the Three Gorges. The area holds an interesting myth which states that Yao Ji, the daughter of the Queen Mother of the West, led her sisters down to the mortal world to help control the floods and then they transformed into twelve peaks of Wushan to protect the area from disasters.

   In the evening, the cruise ship proceeds through five-level ship lock which cause the vessel to rise more than 100 meters. The ship will spend the night at Huangling Temple Pier after completing its journey.

4. Day 4: Cruise to Yichang
   Admire the Three Gorges Dam and Experience Gezhouba Ship Lock

   The first attraction today is the Three Gorges Dam, the largest water conservancy project in the world. The area consists of three spots, allowing you to appreciate the grandeur of the dam from different perspectives. Tanziling is the highest point, with an altitude of 262.48 meters. From here, have a bird's-eye view of the entire dam. The 185 Platform has the same altitude as the dam crest where you can feel the scale of the dam up close. The Jieliu Memorial Park is located downstream of the dam, through physical objects and video materials, recreating the amazing scene of the river diversion back then.

   

   After the visit, the cruise ship enters the lower section of Xiling Gorge. Xiling Gorge is the longest of the Three Gorges, known for its rapid water flow. Enjoy landscapes such as Mingyue Gorge and Huangniu Gorge, among which Huangniu Gorge contains fossils of trilobites and other marine organisms, recording the changes of the Three Gorges over hundreds of millions of years.

   In the late afternoon, experience passing through the Gezhouba Ship Lock. The ship smoothly rises and falls inside the lock. Witness how the ship crosses the dam through the lock and learn about the operation of hydraulic engineering up close.

5. Day 5: Arrive in Yueyang
   Discover Yueyang Tower, Dongting Lake Views, Local Snacks along Bianhe Street

   Arrive in Yueyang approximately after lunch. The guide will take you to visit Yueyang Tower, which is the only ancient building among the "Three Famous Towers in Jiangnan" that maintains its original appearance. It is 19.42 meters high, made of pure wood structure, and has not been nailed or riveted. You will find that its top looks like a general's helmet. Climbing to the top, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of Dongting Lake.

   

   Then visit Bianhe Street, over 300 meters long. The path is made of smooth black stones, and on both sides are inns, tea houses and various shops. "Eating" is a must-do activity when visiting Bianhe Street. Here, you can find authentic local delicacies such as pickled chili fish head. Yueyang is the hometown of yellow tea. You might as well enter a tea house and taste the renowned "Junshan Silver Needle" tea, as well as some creative tea snacks.

   After that, go back to the cruise ship for a good rest.

6. Day 6: Disembark in Wuhan, Departure

   The Yangtze River Cruise tour will finish its journey at Wuhan Port which sits in the middle reaches of the river. After you disembark, you can visit some of Wuhan's most famous attractions by yourself which include Yellow Crane Tower, a must-see city landmark, and Donghu Lake, which is famous for its world-class cherry blossom garden.
