The Mount Siguniang Scenic Area is located in Siguniangshan Town, Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, 220 kilometers away from Chengdu. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as the “Four Girls Mountain”. Its main peak is 6250 meters above sea level and snows all the year round.
The 4-day hike on Mount Siguniang starts from Chengdu. Driving northwestward, stop at Dujiangyan city to visit the historic Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Its history can be traced back to the 3rd century BC. Keep driving and enjoy the spectacular sea of clouds at Balang Mountain.
Start your Mount Siguniang hike tour in Changping Valley. During the 8-hour hike, you will encounter temples, waterfalls, wild forests, glaciers… On the third day, explore the beautiful Haizi Valley, where the lakes reflect the snow-covered mountains, making it a paradise for photographers. Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: Chengdu to Siguniangshan TourMarvel at an Ancient Water Conservancy Project
In the morning, your expert guide andĀ driver will pick you upĀ at your hotel in Chengdu downtown.Ā Then, embark on a car ride to Siguniangshan town. We will make stops on the way. Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a famous ancient water conservancy project, is about 60 kilometers from Chengdu City. It is recognized as a World Heritage together with Mount Qingcheng. Your guide will lead you to explore the ancient irrigation project dated back to 2,000 years ago.
Dujiangyan Irrigation Project Keep driving to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery when passing through the sea of clouds on Balang Mountain, located between Wolong Nature Reserve and Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area. It consists of many peaks with an altitude of over 4500 meters. Standing at the pass, you can see a rolling sea of clouds, like a fairyland.
Continue driving for 1 hour to reach Siguniangshan Town (altitude: 3200 meters). You will stayĀ overnight here.

- Day 2: Changping Valley Hiking TourHike for 8 Hours to Meet Forests, Temples, Lakes, Peaks, Waterfalls
After breakfast, starts your Mount Siguniang hike along the Changping Valley, lying in the middle of the three valleys. Extending 29 km, it features lush forests, grasslands, flowing streams, and waterfalls. Walk a few hundred meters from your hotel to the Tourism Center, and then board a sightseeing bus. The bus will take you to the Lama Temple, the starting point of your day's hike. This is a Tibetan Buddhist temple surrounded by mountains. The white pagoda and colorful prayer flags are very eye-catching. (Note: Photography is not allowed inside the temple)
Lama Temple at Changping Valley Today's hike will take about 8 hours. Along the way, you will pass by solemn monasteries, colorful prayer flags, murmuring waterfalls and lush valleys. Continue on at the ending of the plank road. Hike through the wild forest, gaze up at the uniquely shaped peaks piercing the sky, capturing the reflection of plateau lakes on the surrounding mountains, and admiring the spectacular Four Girls Mountains. Perhaps you can still see cattle and sheep grazing in the distance.
Finally, you will reach Muluozi, a charming grassland 3,760 meters above sea level. Then, return to Lama Temple. Last, a sightseeing bus will take you out of the scenic area.
Muluozi in Autumn Notes:
- There are no restaurants in the valley, please prepare your own food and drinks.
- It is recommended to wear sunglasses and sunscreen to protect yourself from strong ultraviolet radiation.
- The altitude of the entire hiking route is 500 meters. Avoid strenuous exercise to prevent altitude sickness.
- The scenic area provides horses to help you carry your luggage (extra charge).

- Day 3: Haizi Valley Adventure TourEnjoy Vast and Beautiful Plateau Grasslands and Beautiful Lakes
After breakfast, it is another day of adventure in Haizi Valley, the shortest and most rugged of the three scenic valleys. It stretches 19.2 kilometers and covers an area of 126 square kilometers. This is a good place for hiking and horseback riding while offering a great view of snow mountains, charming lakes, vast grasslands, and lush forests.
Hiking in Haizi Valley The itinerary for this day consists of two different parts. The first half is characterized by vast and beautiful plateau grasslands. You will stop at Chaoshanping, with an altitude of 3670 meters and covering over 300 mu (0.2 square kilometers). The scenery here varies throughout the four seasons - green grass in spring; wildflowers are everywhere in summer; clear sky with light cloud in autumn; vast snowĀ in winter. This is one of the best locations to shoot Mount Siguniang.
The latter half of hike in Haizi Valley mainly features lakes. They mirror the surrounding snow mountains, which is a paradise for photographers. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Dahaizi Lake, the largest lake in Haizi Valley and Mount Siniang National Park. In addition, it is also a shelter for egrets and other migratory birds. Today's hiking trip will take about 8-9 hours. After the hike, return to Siguniangshan Town

- Day 4: Siguniangshan Town Back to ChengduStop at Maobiliang Ridge for Stunning Snow Mountain Views
After breakfast, it's time to go back to Chengdu. On the way, make a stop at Maobiliang Ridge, Cat Nose Ridge, one of the best viewing platforms ofĀ Mount Siguniang. Standing here, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that the snow capped mountains are so close, and Mount Siguniang seems to be within reach.
A panoramic view of the Mount Siguniang from Maobiliang Ridge Then, keep driving back to Chengdu. Your tour guide and driver will take you to your hotel in Chengdu downtown or the airport/train station. Your 4-day Mt. Siguniang TrekkingĀ tour comes to a perfect end.
