Welcome to our Shanghai food tour. Meet your guide and driver at your hotel lobby at 8:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., then drive for approximately 1 hour first to the ancient Zhujiajiao Water Town. Strolling along the old-time town while listening to the guideās introduction about its history, which dates back to even 1700 years ago, as early as the time of the Three Kingdoms. In the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the village grew into a town and got the name āZhujiacun villageā. The appearance of the town we see today was left from the Ming Dynasty.
Nowadays, the ancient town is best known for its bridges, old streets, and gardens built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The highlight things to see here are: Fangsheng Bridge, Baoguo Temple, Godās Temple, and Zhuxi Garden. Capture snapshots of charming alleyways and ancient stone houses. You can also take the optional boat cruise here if you are interested in it (your guide will help you with the ticket). The cruise is along the old canal that was nominated by someone as the Venice of Shanghai.

Returning from the suburb it will be time to reward your stomach with authentic Shanghai delicacies.āā This is a fantastic opportunity to āāsavor the most genuine and mouthwatering local snacksāā, like āāsteamed soup dumplings (Xiaolongbao),āā renowned for their delicate wrappers and bursts of savory broth; āāpan-fried pork buns (Shengjianbao),āā prized for their crisp, golden bottoms and juicy fillings; fragrant āāscallion pancakes (Cong You Bing),āā layers of crispy, flaky goodness; Yangchun noodlesāā in a clear, savory soup, a simple yet satisfying staple; and, if in season, the popular āāfresh meat mooncakes (Xian Rou Yuebing).
