Taishan, also known as Mount Tai, is the No.1 of the China’s Five Famous Mountains. It has great cultural significance in China. Our one-day Mount Tai tour will start from Jinan and take about 1.5 hours. Under the guidance of your tour guide, you will take the cable car to Nantianmen, the gateway to Mount Tai. Afterwards, hike to Jade Emperor Peak, 1545 meters above sea level, the summit of Mount Tai, to enjoy the spectacular panoramic view. Your lunch will be served at the restaurant on the mountaintop. At 8:30 in the morning, your private tour guide and driver will meet you at the hotel in Jinan. Then they will escort you to Mount Tai, the first of the Five Famous Mountains in China.
At 10:00 am, after a 1.5-hour drive, we arrived at our destination. Transfer to a sightseeing bus at Zhongtian Gate. After getting off the bus, walk for 5 minutes to the nearby cable station, where you will take the cable car to the South Tianmen, which is 1460 meters above sea level and is the gateway to Mount Tai. The gate is an attic style building with the title 'å天é'. With red walls and topped with yellow glazed tiles, it looks quite majestic.
Starting from Nantian Gate, hike for half an hour to the top of Taishan Mountain. Along the way, you will appreciate various types of eroded landforms, rich wild plants, and your guide will also introduce you to some facts about this historic mountain range.
The summit of Mount Tai is called Jade Emperor Peak, with an altitude of 1545 meters. It is named after the Jade Emperor Hall on the top of the mountain. It is said that Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259-210 BC) once came here to offer sacrifices to the heavens. From the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, 13 generations of emperors climbed Mount Tai personally to offer sacrifices. After reaching the mountaintop, spend time to having rest and enjoying the magnificent panoramic view.
At 12:30, it's time to have lunch at a restaurant on the mountain. Alternatively, you can prepare your own lunch box in advance. Enjoy the beautiful scenery around while having lunch.
Around 1:30 pm, we start descending from the mountaintop. On the way down the mountain, you will have a different perspective of the landscape.
After completing your Mount Taishan adventure, your guide takes you to visit the Dai TempleĀ (a 20 minute drive). Dai Temple is a place for ancient Chinese emperors to worship Mount Taishan gods and hold sacrificial ceremonies. It is also known as the four ancient architectural complexes in China, together with the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Three Confucius Sites of Qufu in Shandong, and the Eight Outer Temples in Chengde Summer Resort. There are many things worth exploring here, from ancient buildings to local handicrafts.
