Tang Dynasty Style Welcome Ceremony at South Gate of Xi’an City Wall Available Since April 1st

Xian is one of the cities of the longest history as the capital city of a country. The rich tangible and intangible heritage left by influential feudal dynasties like the Zhou, the Qin, the Han and the Tang help Xi’an presents attraction of Eastern World.

Since April 1st, the grand Welcome Ceremony Show at South Gate of Xi’an City Wall came back to public again. The welcome ceremony at South Gate represents how Tang Dynasty office welcomed state guest. The show was first performed in 1996 and after several years of promotion, the welcome ceremony developed as the special cultural banquet to treat national leaders who visiting Xi’an. American Bill Clinton, Singapore president Goh Chok Tong, Thailand King and Queen and German president, etc were welcomed in South Gate with the ceremony.

Dislike the other night shows in Xian, people could see the welcome ceremony show for free on edge of Nanmen Square. While if one want to have a better experience, buying a ticket he will enter the South Gate on foot to see the complete show. The nearest hotel to South Gate is Grand Park Xi’an.

The welcome ceremony is performed from Thursday to Sunday each night and starts at 20:00. If your hotel is near from South Gate, that show should not be missed!
