3 Days Dongchuan Red Land Tour from Kunming

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Kunming, Kunming City Tour
   Experience Kunming’s Urban Vitality

   Upon arrival, the local guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. Start today’s Kunming tour from Yuantong Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Kunming. The temple is home to many well-preserved Buddhist temples, blending the architectural styles of the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The temple enshrines statues of the majestic Sakyamuni, Amitabha and Medicine Buddha. There are a large number of Buddhist relics, including scriptures, murals and cliff inscriptions.

   

   Then move to Green Lake Park. The park is famous for its lotus flowers, which bloom on the wide lake in summer, creating a picturesque scene. Wander along the trails around the lake to admire the clear lake, lush trees and old buildings with glazed tiles. There are also many locals exercising, playing chess and Tai Chi in the park.

2. Day 2: Kunming to Dongchuan Red Land Tour
   Capture the Charming Scenery of the Red Land

   Today start your Dongchuan Red Land tour. After breakfast, drive to Dongchuan Red Land, famous for its picturesque hills. The nearly 100-mile-square area is the most typical and distinctive red soil on the Yunnan plateau. It forms a spectacular view together with blue sky, white clouds and variable light. Stand at the observation deck to admire the breathtaking view of rolling hills and colorful fields. Also, take amazing photos from different angles. Have a lunch of local specialties at a nearby restaurant.

   

   In the afternoon, explore Luoxiagou and Luosiwan to witness more wonderful views. Luoxiagou is a great place to watch the stunning sunset over the Red Land. From the viewing trestle, you can overlook the panoramic view of the valley. Also capture the magnificent scene of the sunlight turning the valley into golden. Luosiwan is a quaint village surrounded by colorful fields and hills. Stroll along the village paths to observe the traditional houses and daily life of the locals.

   Finally, head to Wafang Liangzi and Yuepuao. Wafangliangzi is a great viewpoint where you can overlook the rolling red soil farmland and capture a beautiful view in the evening. Yuepuao is a village in Dongchuan with rolling fields. The color of the fields here changes with the weather and the seasons.

3. Day 3: Dongchuan Red Land Exploration Tour, Kunming Departure
   Watch the Stunning Sunrise and Observe the Colorful Fields

   This is the last day of the 3-day Yunnan tour with Dongchuan Red Land and Kunming. In the morning, wake up early to admire the sunrise at Damakan. Stand on a viewing platform to overlook the entire red lands. Observe the fascinating view of the sun rising and covering the red land with golden sunlight. Take pictures of the distinctive view created by the rice terraces and the mountains in the distance.

   

   Later, wander through the Jinxiuyuan to admire the colorful picture formed by the rolling terraces. Marvel at the beauty of the Qichapo, where the land shows seven different colors. Stand on the viewpoint and admire the slopes become more vivid with the sunlight. On the way back to Kunming, stop at Beihe Village. Take photos of vivid rural life and observe traditional costumes and local folklore.

   After the visit, your guide and driver will transfer you to the airport or train station for your departure.
