- Day 1: Xishuangbanna or Puāer ArrivalSpend Your Leisure Time Stroll the Jingmai Dazhai Village
You need to take a plane or train to reach Xishuangbanna or Pu'er. After arrival, a local tour guide and the driver will pick you up with a board "China Xian Tour" and transfer you to Jingmai Mountain (3.5 hours from Pu'er; 4 hours from Xishuangbanna).
TheĀ Dai ethnic village, Jingmai DazhaiĀ of Yunnan,Ā along with more than 10 other natural villages, forms the Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Garden covering an area of 28,000 acres (18.67 square kilometers).Ā The main industry in this village is Pu'er tea. AfterĀ that, return to your guesthouseĀ for breakfast. Taking a short break, we then drive to an observation deckĀ not far from Dazhai Village. This is the best view to admire the sea of clouds. Jingmai Mountain Sea of Clouds Next, be guided to Nuogang Ancient Village. This village is named after the Dai language word for āplace where deer drink waterā. The ancient village of Nuogang is not large, with only more than 100 households. But it has a long history and still retains the tradition of the matrinal society. Therefore, women enjoy a special social status in the village. It is located in the depths of Jingmai Mountain, about 1,500 meters above sea level. The mountainās terrain provides an ideal environment for the growth of tea trees. Therefore, people here make a living by planting and picking tea from the past to the present. Nuogang Village in Jingmai Mountain - Day 3: Jingmai Mountain Tea, DepartureLearn about Original Bulang Culture and Stroll among the Tea Forest
WakeĀ up early and enjoy the beautiful sunrise at Wengji Village. At an altitude of about 1350 meters, Wengji Village has a history of over a thousand years and about 90 households. It has beautiful natural scenery and distinctive ethnic characteristics, maintaining the original Bulang culture and primitive lifestyle.Ā The village is well suited for agricultural production, especially tea cultivation.
Tea is the main source of local economy, and villagers have lived a relatively affluent life by planting, picking, and selling tea through the Tea Horse Ancient Road. In recent years, Wengji Village has received multiple honors - it has been named one of the 200 Ethnic Characteristic Tourism Villages in Yunnan Province and was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2016.
Bulang Culture of Wengji Village Afterward, follow your guide deep into Dapingzhang Old Tea Forest, the only open ancient tea forest in Jingmai Village, named after its flat terrain and resemblance to a human palm. Upon entering its core area, you will see tea trees standing 2ā5 meters high, as well as ancient tea trees reaching heights of nearly 12 meters.
There are not only tea trees in the tea forest, but also many other plants such as osmanthus and camphor. For hundreds of years, this rich plant diversity has created a complete and balanced forest ecosystem for this place. The towering camphor trees form the shelters for tea trees thrive under them. Fallen leaves provide natural organic fertilizer. And various of animals and plants help to reduce pests and diseases. Therefore, the tea trees here are well protected by the forest.
