Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Lijiang Arrival
   Attractive Ancient Architecture and Unique Naxi Culture

   Welcome to Lijiang! You will start this Lijiang tour from Lijiang Ancient Town, showing the local history, culture and ethnic customs. Here visit Mufu Palace, the landmark building in the ancient town. You will enjoy the spectacular Chinese architecture and learn about the traditional Naxi culture. In addition, explore Sifang Street Square, which is the center of the ancient town. There are various stores where you can buy some souvenirs such as ethnic jewelry, tea and silverware. Also taste local street snacks or eat delicious Yunnan cuisine in restaurants.

   

   Then, the guide and driver will take you to the Dongba Culture Museum. The museum buildings are organized according to the development of Naxi dwellings. Here see various introductions about the Dongba culture, as well as physical materials such as scriptures, paintings, and ritual artifacts. Next to the museum is Black Dragon Pool Park. Wander around the clear spring water and admire the reflections of the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the pool.

2. Day 2: Lijiang Nature and Culture
   Immerse Yourself in the Stunning Snow Mountain Scenery

   In the morning, you will be driven to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to continue your Lijiang tour. The views will keep changing as you travel from the foot of the mountain to the top. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the sacred mountain of the Naxi people. Its incredible scenery has also made it one of the most iconic natural landmarks in Lijiang. When looking from distance, you may surprisingly find that the endless snow-capped peaks actually stretch across the sky like a dragon, and that’ how it got its name “Jade Dragon.”

   First, take a cable car ride to reach Spruce Meadow, located at an elevation of over 3,000 meters. The site is rich in natural landscapes and ecological resources. Enjoy clear lakes, peaceful meadows, and beautiful scenery in different seasons. Also marvel at the full view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and take wonderful pictures.

   Later you are advised to watch the Impression Lijiang Show, holding in an open-air theater against the backdrop of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (optional). This is a large-scale outdoor performance featuring folk music and dance that will give you a better understanding of Lijiang culture.

   

   Afterwards visit the enchanting Blue Moon Valley. Admire the blue lake reflecting the snow mountain, which forms a wonderful landscape painting. And walking along the lake, you can also see some small waterfalls, as well as colorful flowers.

   Next, head to Baisha Village, an ancient town famous for its well-preserved Baisha Mural Paintings. It is known for its well-preserved Baisha Murals, which have been existing for hundreds of years. These murals are quite unique as they actually blend elements of Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, and local Naxi beliefs. As a result, except for appreciating the beauty of arts, you can also see the cultural exchange that once happened here from ancient times to the present. The village itself is a quiet place, you can stroll through its traditional Naxi houses and simple streets. Here you can experience an authentic slice of local life and culture.

3. Day 3: Lijiang Departure
   Marvel at the Yangtze River and Experience the Exciting Hiking

   Today embark on a scenic journey to the First Bend of the Yangtze River, which is located near the town of Shigu. Your guide will lead you to the viewing platform. Here at the best spot, you can enjoy panoramic views of this magnificent bend. Seeing how the mighty river dramatically changes its direction in front of you can be far more impressive than imagined. And what’s more surprising is, you can enjoy the beauty of not just the winding river, but also surrounding rolling hills and lush vegetation.

   

   From there, keep moving to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the top 10 most iconic hiking locations in the world. First go hike the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge to a point to see the Jinsha River. After making your way through all the sharp and towering cliffs, the roaring water will greet you with its grand power. You can also see the Tiger Leaping Rock, a massive boulder standing in the river. Your guide will tell you the local legends that are associated with its symbolism and history.

   After the visit, the Lijiang tour of Yunnan is over. Then your guide and driver will escort you to the airport or train station to your next destination.
