Day-by-day Itinerary

Collapse All
  1. Welcome to Dali to spend 3 leisure days! Your private guide and driver will greet you holding a welcome board at the airport upon your arrival, and then transfer you to your hotel for check-in. You will stay overnight in the Old Town of DaliĀ today.

You will stroll along the alleys of the ancient city and enjoy its languid atmosphere. Also catch the sight of those wearing traditional ethnic costumes and take a leisure walk in the market street selling various souvenirs. In addition, there are also some historic sites like the city wall, Foreigners Street, Gate Towers, and so on. You will get some basic facts about these ancient buildings.

Deep into the alleys of the town, you will find the well-preserved Bai architectural style. They have iconic features, such as gray tile roofs, white wooden doors, and exquisite wood carvings on these doors. The leisurely pace of life here makes people slow down and enjoy the daily scenery. You can listen to the stories of residents in the teahouse, and also watch street artisan display handicrafts. The alleys paved with slats and winding rivers are intertwined into the texture of the ancient town, reflecting the cultural heritage and regional customs inherited for hundreds of years.

There is an 18-kilometer-long mountain trail called "Jade Belt Trail". The scenery of Erhai Lake underfoot is unpredictable. The trail slope is gentle and well-maintained, making it an ideal choice for leisure and hiking. Following the guide's footsteps, you will pass through many scenic spots such as Ximatan and Zhonghe Temple. You can take a nap, take photos, and listen to the cultural stories behind these places.

After the hike, take the ropeway down the mountain and then reward your appetite with Yunnan cuisine.

In the afternoon, be guided to visit the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, an important cultural symbol and iconic landmark of Dali, with Erhai Lake in the east and Cangshan Mountain in the west. The history of the Three Pagodas can be traced back to more than a thousand years ago. It is known as a masterpiece of ancient Chinese Buddhist architecture and a symbol of the prosperity of Dali in the past. The main tower stands in the center, with a small tower on each side. Together, they form a harmonious and symmetrical layout. During the visit to the temple, the tour guide will explain to you the purpose of building three towers, such as how to resist earthquakes and floods, and you will also deeply learn about their religious significance in the local Bai culture.

Finally, spend some leisure time around theĀ Erhai Lake. It is the second largest lake in Yunnan Province, second only to Dianchi Lake. We suggest that you rent a bicycle to ride around the lake. In this way, while enjoying the fresh air and beautiful natural scenery, you can also stop and visit any village along the way according to your preferences.

At the end of today, the guide will escort you to your hotel.
