One Day Bifengxia Gorge Hiking Tour with Panda Visit from Chengdu

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Chengdu to Ya’an
   Encounter Giant Pandas Up Close, Hike through Canyon Waterfalls & Rainforest Scenery

   In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up at the hotel lobby in the center of Chengdu at the agreed time. It takes about 2 hours to reach to Ya'an Bifengxia Panda Base. Unlike urban zoos, it is located in a canyon covered by primitive forests, providing a habitat for over 60 giant pandas that is close to their native wild environment. The base is divided into two major areas with breeding grounds for giant pandas, panda cub parks, hospitals, research institutes, etc.

   

   After arrival, the guide will lead you to search for adult giant pandas at the site. They will display their natural behavior as eating bamboo, climbing trees and resting in their habitat. You can also see young pandas under the age of 2 in the baby panda enclosure and learn about some pandas that were born in other countries and later returned to China to live here.

   In the afternoon, visit Bifengxia Ecological Canyon Scenic Area. It is composed of two canyons and features a typical subtropical rainforest landscape. The left canyon is 7 kilometers long and the right canyon is 6 kilometers long, forming a V shape. There, go on a 3-hour hiking to enjoy the scenery of waterfalls, rocks and streams. Start from the panda base, walk to the valley bottom, then follow the river downwards and hike upwards. Along the way, you'll encounter 30 meter high and 10 meter wide Bailongtan Waterfall, the hanging coffin - the rock burial custom of the Qiang ethnic people, Yuanyang Waterfall and Bifeng Temple built in the Tang Dynasty.

   

   Travel Tips:

   • After reaching the top of the valley, you can take the elevator which is 99 meters high and built along the cliff.
   • Although the stairs in the scenic area are not very steep, they may be slightly damp. Please always watchyour feet.
