History about Tagong Grasslandāā
In Tibetan, Tagong means the āThe place beloved by the Bodhisattvaā. It is said that in Tang Dynasty, when the princess Wencheng entered Tibet region, the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha she carried manifested its divine presence here and did not want to leave, so a replica was created and enshrined here and the Tagong Monastery was built. With a history of more than 1000 years, the monastery is known as the āLittle Jokhang TempleāĀ now and has been an important pilgrimage site for Tibetan people in Kham region.

By self-driving: You can start from āChengdu cityĀ along āG318 National Highway to āXinduqiao town, and then drive west for about 33 km to the Tagong Grassland. It is suggested to pay attention to sun protection in summer, and be careful of slippery roads on snowy days in winter. ā

Best Time to Visit Tagong Grassland
