Guilin has always been known as “Having the best landscape in the world”. It is a key scenic city and garden city in my country, and it is also the first batch of historical and cultural cities named by the State Council. Our local guide will pick you up at around 08:30am and drive about 2.5 hours to Longsheng County. Longji terraces are neat and orderly, with colorful lines. The Longsheng Terraced Rice Fields were first built and cultivated in Yuan Dynasty by Zhuang and Yao minority people, and now the area is still being used by the Zhuang and Yao villagers. The rice terraces are built on the mountain slopes and wind its way around the hillsides. Take this tour to appreciate the breathtaking landscapes and feel the ethnic minority cultures.
AM: Meet your tour guide and driver at your downtown hotel lobby around 8am. Set off on a scenic two-hour drive through hilly countryside and marvel at your driver’s expertise in navigating the winding roads.
Arrive at Longji Terraces Scenic Area and enjoy the one-of-a-kind Long Hair Show performed by Yao Minority women in Huangluo village, which was awarded the “World’s Longest Hair Village” by Guinness World Records. Famous for their long and shiny hair, the women of Huangluo cut their hair only once in their lives upon turning 18.
Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.
PM: Move on to the Terraces. Learn how these impressive landscaped hills have been managed by the local Zhuang Minority people for thousands of years. Marvel at the large-scale rice fields with stilted buildings set into the hillsides. Hike to the highest point for stunning views over the terraces and surrounding countryside. Cable cars are available and if the hiking is too much for you (at your own cost). Afterwards, you will be transferred back to Guilin and dropped off at your hotel.
