AM: Today’s first stop is People’s Square which surrounded by buildings and facilities for administration, cultural activities, transportation and commerce, such as municipal government office building, the Shanghai Museum, Shanghai City Planning Exhibition Hall and the Grand Theater. Next pay a visit to Yuyuan Garden, which is a representative of classical Chinese gardens with elegant pavilions, old bridges, artistic rockeries, small ponds, etc. It was originally built by Pan Yunduan in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty for his parents to enjoy their old age in peace. The garden has gone through a lot in the over 400 years’ history. It was once deserted at the death of Pan Yunduan, restored by new owners, badly damaged during the Opium War, and reopened in 1961 after a lot of repairs.
Nearby is the lively Yuyuan Market, wonder around here you can get everything from traditional Chinese crafts like chopsticks, fans, and pottery to local delicacies such as steamed buns, crab shell cake, and pork chop with rice cakes. Don’t forget to haggle for a better price.
After that, come to the Former French Concession, the largest and most prosperous concession among all the four French concessions in old China. From 1849 to 1943, this area was ruled by France for almost a century. Here your tour guide will reveal a history of humiliation and you will see many old beautiful European style buildings which look very charming hidden in the shade of French parasol trees.

After lunch, continue to visit the Nanjing Pedestrian Road. We will start at the Bund in the east and end in the west at the junction of Jing’an Temple and Yan’an West Street. Today it is a must-see metropolitan destination attracting thousands of fashion-seeking shoppers from all over the world.
Next, wander from the eastern end of Nanjing Road to the Bund. The Bund (Waitan) is one of the most famous landmarks in Shanghai. Standing on the bank of Huangpu River, the 26 various buildings of different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance are a symbol of Shanghai’s past.
Then drive to the new development zone in Pudong – Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone. It is also home to a few skyscrapers such as Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Building. We’ll take the elevator to the 88-storey Observation Deck of Jinmao Tower to have a bird’s eye view of Huangpu River.
After descending Jinmao Tower, drive back to your hotel.
