What to See in Sangdui Red Grassland

Every autumn, Sangdui Red Grassland in the lake grows extraordinarily lush, with some stones scattered among it. On a sunny day, Sangdui Red Grassland is very dazzling and bright which is so pleasing to your eye. Across the Sangdui Red Grassland stands a row of tall poplar forests. Sangdui Red Grass Field and golden trees, combined with the clear blue sky and white clouds, form a colorful and splendid picture. It makes tourists joyful and wants to linger away the whole day.

There are also some quaint Tibetan villages beside the Sangdui Red Grassland, where cattle and sheep are grazing leisurely on the meadow. Being immersed in this pastoral beauty will let people temporarily forget their worldly worries, and get peace of mind.

The best time to take photos of Sangdui Red Grassland is from early to the middle of October. If it is a cloudy day, the effect will be greatly reduced. The best shooting time is in the morning when the Sangdui Red Grassland and poplar trees can both present their most vibrant state.

How to Get to Sangdui Red Grassland

If you plan to travel to Sangdui Red Grassland, you need to get to Daocheng Yading in Sichuan first.

By air: There is a Daocheng Yading Airport in Sichuan. If there is no direct flight to Daocheng in your country, it is recommended to fly to Chengdu cityĀ first. After arriving at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport you can take the shuttle bus to Daocheng County.

By bus: You can take a direct bus from Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station to Daocheng County, or you can take the bus to Kangding first and then transfer to Daocheng County.

By self-driving: You can start from Chengdu along the 318 National Road, and turn to the 217 National Road through Litang. The whole journey takes about 12 hours after arriving at Daocheng. Also, you can choose the West Sichuan 318 Line, passing through Xinduqiao, Litang and other places, and finally reaching Daocheng Yading. The whole journey takes about 7-8 days and is suitable for tourists who enjoy the road trip.

After arriving at Daocheng County, it is suggested to book a charter service to Sangdui Red Grassland or drive by yourself.

BenpoĀ Monastery: It is the oldest temple in Daocheng County with a history of more than 900 years. Tourists can learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture here.

Yading Nature Reserve: It is famous for magnificent snow-capped mountains, pristine forests, and vast meadows. Here you can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery but also experience the rich Tibetan culture and traditions.

Yading Village: It is 34 kilometers away from Shangri-La town, known as the “last Shangri-La” reputation.
