In the morning, meet your private tour guide and driver in your hotel at 08:00-09:00. (The specific pick-up time will be determined on the day before.) After collecting all the group members, we will head to the famous Longji Terrace Field.
The driving will take about 2 hours, so we will get to the terrace field before 11:00 am. The Longsheng Terraced Rice Fields were first built and cultivated in the Yuan Dynasty by Zhuang and Yao minority people, and now the area is still being used by the Zhuang and Yao villagers. The rice terraces are built on the mountain slopes and wind their way around the hillsides. The Longji terraced fields is a highlight in one’s Guilin tour and one of the 12 top-class scenic spots in Guangxi Province.
Itās amazing to think that people from minority groups managed to farm these steep mountain areas using the slash-and-burn method over 2,000 years ago. Today, the terraces not only support the locals but also attract visitors from all over the world.
When you arrive, follow your guide to hike along the stone paths and admire the magnificent terraced fields. Watch the unique Long Hair Show performed by Yao women in Huangluo Village. The women here are known for their long, shiny hair, which they only cut once, at the age of 18.
