4 Days Classic Huangshan Tour from Shanghai by High-speed Train

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Shanghai to Huangshan Tour by Bullet Train
   Learn about the Huizhou Culture and Arts

   You will be picked up by a Shanghai local driver at your Shanghai downtown hotel and then transferred to catch a high-speed train to Huangshan. After about a 3-hour train ride, get to charming Huangshan. When you arrive at Huangshan North Railway Station, your local driver will greet you at the exit of the train station by holding a name sign and escort you to your downtown hotel.

   After checking in at the hotel, you will have lunch at a local restaurant.

   In the afternoon, head to Tunxi Ancient Street where you will find many ancient Hui-style architectures and learn the knowledge from your tour guide. Next, go to visit the Hu Kaiwen Ink-stick Factory which was founded by Hu Kaiwen in 1765. You can learn about the production process of ink here, purchase various ink sticks and inkstones, and experience the unique charm of Huizhou ink. Finally, you will be dropped off at your hotel. Have a good rest tonight.

2. Day 2: Huangshan Mountain Tour
   Admire the Uniquely Shaped Pine Trees and Sunset View

   Today your Huangshan Mountain tour will officially begin! Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel lobby after breakfast and drive about 1 hour to the mountain.

   Upon arrival, take a shuttle bus first and then take a cable car up the mountain at Yungun Station. Your guide will lead you to see the beautiful scenery at Beginning-to-Believe Peak and finally go to the Cloud-dispelling Pavilion to enjoy the sunset. Along the way, you will see many uniquely shaped pine trees growing from steep cliffs, as if someone has trimmed them such as the Harp Pine and Black Tiger Pine.

   There will be many staircases that go up and down, but all the tiredness of climbing will be gone when you are rewarded with breathtaking views. Please do not watch your camera or phone while walking.

   Tonight we will stay at a hotel on the mountain to catch the sunrise the next day.

3. Day 3: Huangshan Hiking Tour
   Witness the Sunrise and See Grotesque Rocks

   Today, get up in the early morning to witness the incredible sunrise. When the mountain is still sleeping under the starry sky, we will leave the hotel to occupy a vantage point and quietly wait for the thrilling moment. Over time, the color of the sky will change slowly. The sun finally shows its head and the peaks are bathed in dazzling gold. After that, go back to the hotel and have breakfast.

   Then continue your Mount Huangshan tour to explore Bright Summit, the second-highest peak of the mountain, and hike to Flying-over Rock. On the way back to the cable car station, you can see Monkey Watching the Sea on Lion Peak and Dawn Pavilion. After all visits, hop on a cable car and descend the mountain to go back to Huangshan downtown. You will be transferred back to Huangshan city afterward.

4. Day 4: Huangshan Village Tour, Departure
   Appreciate Hui-style Buildings and Ancient Memorial Archway

   Meet your guide and driver at your hotel lobby in the morning after breakfast and check out as you will take the departure train directly after the tour. Please pack your belongings in advance.

   We will visit two special ancient villages today. An outstanding representative of Huizhou architecture, Hongcun Village was listed on the World Cultural Heritage List in 2000. Here, you can see famous scenic spots such as South Lake and Moon Pond, as well as over 140 ancient Ming and Qing dynasty residences. This is an excellent place to experience Huizhou culture and natural beauty.

   After lunch, move on to explore the ancient houses and 99 cobblestone-paved maze-like lanes in Xidi Ancient Village. When you arrive at the village, a magnificent archway, Hu Wenguang Memorial Archway, will stare at you at the entrance. The archway, built in the Ming Dynasty, is over 400 years old and has become a landmark of the village and a witness of the village's history. Marvel at the delicate stone carvings on it and how sturdy it is, still in good condition after so many years.

   After saying goodbye to the village, the driver will transfer you to the train station for a high-speed train back to Shanghai city. Still, there is a Shanghai local driver who will pick you up from the Shanghai Train Station to your Shanghai hotel. This is the end of your 4-day Shanghai to Huangshan tour.
