Singapore passport holders can now visit China visa-free for up to 30 days. This is a great time to consider a first trip to China for many Singaporeans. Xian, which is very different from Singapore, makes one of the top destinations.
You will see the Terracotta Warriors from over 2,000 years ago and its ancient City Wall, experience nights that will transport you back in history while walking down the busy streets in a Han costume and tasting delicious local foods.
6-7 days is usually best for traveling to Xi’an from Singapore. For your first Xi’an trip, you can spend about 3 days touring the Terracotta Warrior Museum, City Wall, and Big Wild Goose Pagoda, plus another day to Mount Huashan. With the rest of your time, you can take a high-speed train to see Longmen Grottoes and Shaolin Temple in Luoyang.
When planning a 1-week Xi’an itinerary from Singapore, it is better not to pack every day with too many attractions. Slowing down may allow you to experience more of Xi’an’s charm.

How to Travel from Singapore to Xi’an?
There are direct flights from Singapore to Xi’an that take about 5.5-6 hours. It is the most convenient way of travel. From Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN) to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (XIY), here are two flights that international travelers often take.
- China Eastern Airlines MU2070: A direct service runs daily, departing Singapore around 14:00/14:15 and landing in Xi’an at about 20:05.
- Scoot TR134: Several services run each week, departing Singapore at 19:05 and landing in Xi’an at 00:40 the next day.
The arrival time of TR134 is pretty late. If you are taking this flight from Singapore to Xi’an, make sure you have your accommodation and airport transfer arranged beforehand. It usually takes about an hour by car to get from Xianyang International Airport to the Bell Tower and Yongning Gate area.
If you’re visiting Xi’an as part of a China itinerary, you can take a high-speed train or flight from Xi’an to other major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu.
Travel tip: The time of the flights may be adjusted during different seasons. Please refer to specific flight information on the date of your travel.
7 Days in Xi’an: Is it Too Long?
Seven days in Xi’an is not too long for your first trip. You don’t have to stay within the city center throughout the whole journey.
You will need about 3 days to cover the major Xi’an attractions for your first trip:
- Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda
- Ancient City Wall & the old city district & trying out local foods
- Small Wild Goose Pagoda/Xi’an Museum & a walking tour to explore the city

With an extra day, you can travel to Mount Huashan to have a comprehensive Xi’an tour with both historical heritage and natural scenery.
If you have 6-7 days in Xi’an, we recommend taking a side trip to Luoyang instead of packing in more attractions in the city. The high-speed train from Xi’an to Luoyang takes about 1-1.5 hours. You can visit Longmen Grottoes and Shaolin Temple. They will be excellent experiences for your historical tour.
If you’re on a Xi’an family trip from Singapore with kids or parents, you can work in more time and flexibility in your schedule. Take the cable car at Mount Huashan instead of hiking. Maybe leave an afternoon free for activities or rest.
How to Plan for 7 Days in Xi’an (Without Luoyang)
If you’re not interested in visiting Luoyang or Shaolin Temple, you can travel to Hukou Waterfall on day 6 instead or continue your trip to Chengdu. If you’d rather avoid being on the road too much, you could plan for some free time in Xi’an on your last day before heading to the airport.
- If you enjoy natural scenery, Hukou Waterfall is an impressive sight to see. See the Yellow River rush down up close. However, the drive from Xi’an can be long, and it will be a full day trip from early morning to the evening.
- If you’d like to explore more of China, you can take a high-speed train for 3-4 hours to Chengdu to experience an entirely different city. See the famous giant pandas and taste iconic Sichuan cuisine.

Let us know your interests and return flight information, China Xian Tour can help you adjust the itinerary to Hukou Waterfall or Chengdu and work out your transportation in between.

Day 1: Xi’an Arrival
Welcome to Xi’an!
After your arrival at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, your tour guide and personal driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel in the city for check in.
There won’t be any plans for the day. If you arrive late, you can rest after checking in. If you arrive early in the day, you can explore the area around your hotel or go out to eat.
Day 2: Terracotta Warriors – Shuyuanmen – Bell & Drum Tower – Muslim Quarter
If you arrive in Xi’an late the day before, you can sleep in and start your tour around noon.
Head to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. Besides the main pits, you can also see the bronze chariots. The design of the chariots and their ornaments can tell you much about ancient craftsmanship from Qin Dynasty China 2,000 years ago.
In the afternoon, you will return to the city district. Take a walk around Shuyuanmen to discover stores selling traditional arts and crafts like calligraphy works and seal stamps. Then head to the Bell and Drum Tower. The Muslim Quarter is right next to them where you can take an evening stroll and try out Xi’an local snacks.

Day 3: Hanyangling Museum – Yuanjiacun
Visit Hanyangling Museum in the morning. See what has been uncovered from the imperial mausoleum and learn about court life as well as social life in Han Dynasty 2,000 years ago.
Then head to Yuanjiacun. Walk down the old street. You’ll encounter many stalls that sell traditional Shaanxi foods. Try out different Guanzhong snacks. We recommend getting a little bit of everything to share if you’re traveling in a group.

Day 4: Small Wild Goose Pagoda – Ancient City Wall – Han Costume Experience – Big Wild Goose Pagoda Night View
In the morning, tour the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Xi’an Museum. The pagoda is within a garden, and the museum has exhibitions on the ancient city of Chang’an (today’s Xi’an).
Then you will ascend the City Wall at Yongning Gate. You could either take a walk over it or rent a bike. See the ancient streets and gates of the city from above.
In the afternoon you will have a Han costume experience. After putting on your outfit and make up, you will head to Daci’en Temple and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In the evening, continue your trip to Datang Everbright City where lanterns light up the street and night shows take place.

Day 5: Mount Huashan Day Trip
Spend today for a day trip to Mount Huashan.
You can take the scenic area shuttle bus and the cable car up the mountain. Go on a hike along a route of your choice. You will pass by steep stone steps, mountain ridge, and sightseeing platforms with peaks towering above you and the deep valley below. When the weather is clear, you will be able to see the rolling mountains in the distance.
There’s no need to rush during your hike just to get to all the peaks. You can adjust your hiking route depending on the weather, cable car services available, and your physical condition. Make sure you pause sometimes along the way to take in the magnificent views of Mount Huashan.

Day 6: Longmen Grottoes – Shaolin Temple
In the morning, take a high-speed train to Luoyang. The train ride will be about 1-1.5 hours. Your local guide and driver will pick you up when you arrive.
Your Luoyang tour will start at Longmen Grottoes. There are many grottos from different historical periods along Yi River. Apart from the magnificent Vairocana Buddha, notice the many intricate carvings and niches on the grotto walls.
You will then be transferred to Shaolin Temple to see its main halls and pagodas. You can watch a Shaolin Kung Fu performance if the schedule allows.
At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to Luoyang Longmen Railway Station to take an evening high-speed train back to Xi’an.

Day 7: Xi’an – Singapore
The itinerary of the day is very flexible depending on the time of your return flight. If the flight is later in the day, you can walk around the area near your hotel, enjoy some delicious Xi’an foods, or pick out some special souvenirs to bring home.

Your tour guide and driver will transfer you to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport depending on your flight time. Travel back to Singapore with your unforgettable Xi’an experience. We look forward to seeing you in China again to explore a different area.
Where Should First-Time Visitors Stay in Xi’an?
For your first trip to Xi’an, I recommend staying near the Bell Tower or Yongning Gate.
- The Bell Tower is located in the center of the old city. There are many shopping centers and restaurants around. It’ll be convenient to go on evening walks around the Bell and Drum Tower, Muslim Quarter area. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a busy and vibrant area.
- Yongning Gate is also in the city center, but it’s not quite as busy as the Bell Tower area. You can easily walk to the City Wall and Shuyuanmen.
- For a Xi’an family itinerary from Singapore or if you enjoy night views, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Qujiang are also great areas to stay in in Xi’an.
There’s no need to stay in Lintong just for the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. It’s easy to make a round trip from the city center.

Best Time to Visit Xi’an from Singapore
The best time to visit Xi’an is from April to May and September to October. The weather conditions are best for biking over the city wall, exploring the city on foot, and traveling to Mount Huashan. Xi’an sees less visitors in March and November, but the mornings and evenings tend to be a bit colder.

Visiting Xi’an in the Winter
For families, the Singapore school holiday is also great for a Xi’an trip, from late November to the end of December. 6-7 days will make a great Xi’an itinerary from Singapore.
If you’re taking a Xi’an winter trip from Singapore, bring puffer coats or heavy jackets with you. You may be used to the warm climate in Singapore year-round. Xi’an in winter is a special experience in itself coming from about 30°C in Singapore, and you might even encounter snow. However, snowfall may be quite unpredictable in the city area. There are better destinations in China for a snowy trip.

Times to Avoid
Xi’an can get pretty hot from June to August, plus there’s a surge in tourist volume over the summer holiday from July to August. If there’s flexibility in your schedule, we recommend avoiding the Spring Festival, Labor Day holiday (first week of May), and China National Day holiday as well.
What Should Singapore Travelers Prepare Before Visiting Xi’an?
1. China Visa-Free Travel for Singaporeans
As of September 2026, Singapore passport holders can travel to China visa-free for for up to 30 days. For a 6-to-7-day Xi’an itinerary including Mount Huashan and Luoyang, a China tourist visa is usually not required.
If your stay exceeds 30 days or if your destination is not eligible for visa-free travel, you will need to apply for a China tourist visa. Make sure you double check your passport validity and the latest entry policy.
2. Set up Your Payment Method Before the Trip
For your first trip to China from Singapore, the most important thing to prepare is your electronic payment method. You can download Alipay or WeChat Pay in Singapore beforehand and link it to your international bank card. It’ll be a lot more convenient to pay for dining, ride hailing, and shopping after you arrive in Xi’an.
However, you don’t have to completely rely on electronic payment. We also recommend bringing your international bank card with you and a small amount of cash just in case.
3. Prepare your Network, Map, and Translation Tools in Advance
If this is your first trip to China, make sure that you will have network services, a map, and translation app. We also suggest that you take screenshots of the address of your hotel, names of attractions in Chinese, and your flight information.
It won’t be too much of an issue if you can’t speak Chinese. The screenshots can be helpful when you’re taking a taxi or looking for directions. Save the information while planning your Xi’an trip just in case your network should be unstable.
4. Carry Your Passport with You at All Times
Keep your passport with you while traveling in China. You will need it for hotel check-in, using the high-speed rail, and some attraction reservations. Make sure you carry your passport with you whenever you go out.
5. Pack for the Season
Singapore might be warm year-round, but Xi’an experiences four distinct seasons. Its winter, early spring, and late autumn will feel a lot colder than Singapore. If you are visiting in November or December, make sure you pack for lower temperatures in the morning, at night, on the City Wall, and in Mount Huashan. Dress in layers even if you’re bringing a heavy coat.
6. Travel at a Slower Pace with Kids or Elders
If you’re going on a family trip in Xi’an with kids or parents, don’t pack your itineraries too full. The Terracotta Warriors Museum, City Wall, and Mount Huashan will require a decent amount of walking. It may be tiring if you are visiting attractions every day.
For a family trip to Mount Huashan, you can take the cable car up the mountain instead of hiking. You also don’t have to visit all of the City Wall or cycle along all the sections. You can work in some time for dining, free exploration, or half a day just for resting in your itinerary. Your family’s comfort and travel experience matter more than trying to see everything.
Plan Your Trip with China Xian Tour
Take a direct flight from Singapore to Xi’an. A 7-day Xi’an itinerary is perfect for first time visitors to see the highlights in and around the city. Learn about its history at the Terracotta Warriors Museum and the City Wall. Witness the natural scenery of Mount Huashan. And take a day trip to Luoyang to see Longmen Grottoes and Shaolin Temple.
In between the attractions, you can take some time to try local foods, explore the old city district, and have cultural experiences like trying on a Han costume. You won’t feel too rushed during the trip and you’ll be able to experience the authentic life of Xi’an.
If you are planning on a Xi’an 1-week itinerary from Singapore, China Xian Tour can help you craft and adjust your trip according to your flights, the season, and your interests. We will also enhance your journey with personal transfer services, help with booking the attraction tickets, and more local experiences. Don’t rush to check off things on the list. Slow down and take in the experience.
