It’s also convenient for planning a first-time trip to China as you won’t have to worry too much about transportation between regions or the language barrier.

The Three Gorges region is the most iconic section of Yangtze River. Cruise past the magnificent mountains and cliffs on the winding river. You’ll feel like you’ve entered an ancient Chinese ink painting. Apart from the spectacular views, you’ll get to witness the Three Gorges Dam, the the largest hydropower project in the world. It’s a modern engineering wonder.

Best Time for a Yangtze River Cruise: Weather & Seasons
Spring and Autumn: The Ideal Seasons
Spring and autumn are definitely the best time for a Yangtze River Cruise tour. Between March and May, September and November, the region has the perfect weather for cruising and outdoor activities. The sceneries are at their best with spring wildflowers in the mountains and stunning fall foliage. The red and yellow autumn leaves are particularly beautiful against the blue sky and water.
Summer and Winter: Peak and Low Season
Summer and winter have slightly less favorable weather comparing to spring and autumn. Summer, June to August, is the hottest season with the most rainfall. The Three Gorges Dam will be especially impressive as the volume of water is at the highest. However, the high temperature and tourism traffic may not be ideal as many domestic travelers like to go on family trips during the summer.
Winter, December through February, tend to be cold, and it’s often foggy, so it may not be the best time for sightseeing. However, it’s the low season of travel, and the cruise prices are likely to be lower.
