5 Days Shanghai Tour with Zhujiajiao Water Town

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Shanghai Arrival

   Upon your arrival in Shanghai, met by local guide. Then transfer to hotel for check in. Please enjoy your free time in the rest of the day.

2. Day 2: Shanghai
   Shanghai Museum, People Square, Shanghai World Financial Center, Nanjing Road, the Bund (Lunch)

   AM: Today’s first stop will be Shanghai Museum at People’s Square. Established in 1952, the Shanghai Museum has a collection of more than 120,00 rare cultural pieces from the Old Stone Age to modern times.  Finish the exploration of history, stroll on People Square to have a glimpse of the daily life of the locals. The square now is most famous for its match-making corner where parents try to seek partners for their children. Afterward you will be escorted to  Shanghai World Financial Center, the second tallest skyscraper in mainland China.

   Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

   PM: Then take a walk in Nanjing Road to see the earliest and most bustling business street in Shanghai. Finally we will conclude the one day exciting trip by visiting to the Bund, one of the best place to see contrast of old Shanghai and modern Shanghai. Drive back to your hotel after the tour.

3. Day 3: Shanghai
   Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Yuyuan Market, Shanghai Old Street, Former French Concession, Xintiandi (Lunch)

   AM: After hotel pickup we will head to the hundred-year-old Jade Buddha Temple. The temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. After that we will continue to visit Yuyuan Garden, a famous classical garden which was originally built for Pan’s parents as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age. Nearby is Yuyuan Market, a bustling marketplace set in an old Chinese neighborhood with traditional architecture and shops selling everything from local snacks to various souvenirs.

   Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

   PM: In the afternoon you will take a walk on Shanghai Old Street, with a total length of 825 meters, the architectural style and business layout show the historical and cultural evolution of old Shanghai from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the fusion of western culture. Next, come to the Former French Concession, the largest and most prosperous concession among all the four French concessions in old China. From 1849 to 1943, this area was ruled by France for almost a century. Here your tour guide will reveal a history of humiliation and you will see many old beautiful European style buildings which look very charming hidden in the shade of French parasol trees. Last enjoy your leisure time in “Xintiandi” – something like Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong and Clarke Quay in Singapore. Xintiandi is a fashionable pedestrian street composed of Shikumen and modern architecture style. At last transfer back to hotel.

4. Day 4: Shanghai – Zhujiajiao – Shanghai by Car
   Zhujiajiao Water Town, Seven Treasures Town (Lunch)

   AM: After hotel pickup we will drive to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town. Zhujiajiao is an ancient water town which is known as the “pearl stream” with over 1,000 years history and is best known for its bridges and old streets and gardens built during Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are famous sites like Fangsheng Bridge, Baoguo Temple, town god’s temple and Zhuxi Garden, offering different kinds of photo opportunities. A pleasant traditional sampan ride on the canals is included. Lunch will be at a local restaurant in the town.

   Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

   PM: Head to Seven Treasures Town which locates at the suburb of Shanghai and shows the typical feature of southern Chinese ancient town. Built in Ming and Qing dynasties, this old town had been a local famous market place for trade of some daily goods like cloth, yarn, food material and vegetables. The town actually had rich commercial history but was also pervaded with cultural atmosphere in old times as there were many famous scholars in that time then. Today visitors can still feel the original taste of the old town and enjoy many exquisite crafts in local.

   Drive back to your hotel in Shanghai in the afternoon.

5. Day 5: Shanghai Departure

   Our driver picks you up from hotel according to your Flight time in the morning. Then transfer to the airport.
