Ya’an Weather and Best Time to Visit

Ya’an has distinct seasons and ample rainfall, so much so that it’s known as the ā€œcity of rain.ā€ The best time for your trip to Ya’an is during spring, summer, or autumn, especially from March to May and September to November.

From Chengdu to Ya’an

By High-Speed Rail (Bullet Train):Ā The Chengdu–Ya’an high-speed railway runs between Chengdu East/SouthĀ Railway StationsĀ and Ya’an Railway Station. The fastest service takes around 1 hour, while slowerĀ trainsĀ may spendĀ to 1.5 hoursĀ on the way.

By Bus: You can catch busesĀ in most majorĀ bus stationsĀ in Chengdu, including XinnanmenĀ bus station. However, the bus trip is definitely more time-consuming, and it would take about 2.5Ā hoursĀ for a single trip. And it is true that they’re less comfortable than trains and often impacted by traffic.

By Car or Private Driver: Driving via the Chengya Expressway would take approximately 1.5–2 hours depending on traffic.

From Mount Emei to Ya’an

By Bus: Buses run from Emei Jiuzhu Bus Station can directly reach Yan’an inĀ 1.5- 2.5Ā hours, depending on the road condition and the serviceĀ you choose

By Car: Driving from Mount Emei to Ya’an takes approximately 1 hour.

By High-Speed Rail (Indirect Option): Sadly, there’s no direct high-speed train travel from Emei to Ya’an. However, you can first travel toĀ Chengdu (or Leshan), and thenĀ transferĀ to trains bounding for Yan’an.Ā 

From Leshan to Ya’an

By Bus:Ā There’s no direct bus line connect people from Leshan to Ya’an. So that if you want to experience a bus trip between these two cities, you can first go to E’mei, and then take direct bus to Ya’an.

By Car or Taxi: Driving from Leshan to Ya’an will probably takeĀ around 1–1.5Ā hours, however, longer time may need if there’s accident on the road.

By High-Speed Train (via Chengdu):Ā There is also no direct train to Ya’an. Instead, you’d first take one from Leshan to Chengdu (41–100 minutes) and transfer to another high-speed train heading to Ya’an
