Xian and Zhangjiajie are both popular tourist destinations in China, with one famous for its rich historical culture and the other famous for its magnificent natural scenery.
The total distance from Xian to Zhangjiajie is about 930 kilometers, which takes more than 11 hours to drive on the highway. So self-drivingĀ or bus is not suggested. A trip from Xian to ZhangjiajieĀ by airplane or train is a better option.
Travel from XianĀ to ZhangjiajieĀ by Airplane (Fastest)
The most convenient way for Xian to Zhangjiajie trips is by airplane. Please note thatĀ direct flights are only available during the peak season from April to October.
The direct flight from Xian Xianyang International AirportĀ to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Passengers can check flight information in advance on the official websites of major airlines or online tourismĀ platforms, and make choices based on personal itinerary and budget. After arriving atĀ ZhangjiajieĀ Hehua Airport, you can choose to take the airport shuttle bus or take a taxi to various scenic spots in Zhangjiajie.
Travel from XianĀ to ZhangjiajieĀ Via Changsha
Another mode of transportation from Xian to Zhangjiajie is to transfer in Changsha (the capital city of Hunan Province)Ā –Ā first take anĀ airplane or high-speed trainĀ to Changsha, and then take the high-speed train from ChangshaĀ to Zhangjiajie.
Xian to Changsha by Train + Changsha to Zhangjiajie by Train
Currently, there is no direct train from Xian to Zhangjiajie. You can first take the G520, G816, G1166, G824 and other high-speed trains from Xian North to Changsha South, and then transfer to G5884, D7482, G5876, G689 and other high-speed trains to Zhangjiajie West. The entire journey takes about 8.5Ā –Ā 10 hours, and the second-class ticket price is approximately RMB 900.
Xian to Changsha by Airplane + Changsha to Zhangjiajie by Train
You can choose to take the direct flight from Xian to Changsha first. There are multiple flights from Xian Xianyang International Airport to Changsha Huanghua International Airport every day, with a total flight durationĀ of about 2 hours. Then take the high-speed train from Changsha South Railway Station to Zhangjiajie, which takes about 2 hours to arrive.
From Changsha Huanghua Airport to Changsha South Railway Station:
Over 18 kilometers, whichĀ takes about 30 minutes and costs around RMB 50Ā by taxi;
Or takingĀ the Maglev Express, which costs 36 minutesĀ andĀ ticket price is RMB 20; alternatively, taking the airport shuttle bus (south railway station line), which costs 55 minutes and theĀ ticket price is RMB 25.
