Both Xi’an and Luoyang were once two of the greatest ancient capitals of China, with a long history, rich culture, and beautiful natural scenery.
If you have enough time to visit Xi’an, you should add Luoyang to your travel bucket list. This 6-day historical exploration will take you to some of China’s glorious dynasties. Not only will you visit several famous World Heritage sites, including the Terracotta Warriors, the Longmen Grottoes, and the Shaolin Temple, but you’ll also have the chance to challenge yourself to hike the most precipitous mountain in the world – Mount. Hua.

Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: Xi'an ArrivalHanyang Mausoleum, Grand Tang All Day Hall
Welcome to join our 6-day Xi'an and Luoyang Tour! When you arrive at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (please arrive before noon), your local guide and driver will meet you at the exit gate.
You will start your visit with the Hanyang Mausoleum before heading to the city. This mausoleum is the largest underground museum in China, housing the joint tomb of Emperor Jingdi and his empress. Visitors can explore the exhibition hall to learn about the civilization and culture of that time and admire the well-maintained gardens. It offers a fascinating insight into ancient Chinese burial traditions and history.
Hanyang Mausoleum Arriving in Xi'an, go to Grand Tang All Day Hall (South Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda) to appreciate the unique night view. It's busier in the evening when many activities with Tang elements are held by local amateurs.
At the end of the visit, check into the local hotel.

- Day 2: Xi'an Historical TourTerracotta Warriors, Ancient City Wall, Muslim Quarter
After one hour's drive from the city center, you will arrive at the Terracotta Warriors, an extraordinary archaeological discovery that dates back over 2,000 years. Explore the underground army of life-sized clay soldiers, each with unique facial expressions and armor. Learn about the history and significance of this remarkable site, which stands as a testament to the power and grandeur of the ancient Qin Dynasty.

Terracotta Warriors and Horses After lunch, move forward to the Ancient City Wall, and be introduced to the most complete and oldest city defenses with ancient walls, ramparts, gates, watchtowers, and horse passages. You can take a walk on the massive wall, or rent a bicycle (optional, at your own expense) to get some good views of the city and the surrounding moat.
Next, have a leisurely visit to the Muslim Quarter, which is packed with various stalls of local authentic food and snacks. Entertain your taste bud with iconic Shaanxi food such as Yangrou Paomo (Pieces of Flat-bread Bun Soaked in Mutton Soup), and purchase some antiques, artworks, and Terracotta Warrior imitations, as souvenirs. After all visits, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

- Day 3: Xi'an - Mt. Hua - LuoyangHuashan Mountain
Today, you will take a day trip to Huashan Mountain, at an elevation of 2,160m (7,086 ft), for its steep and narrow paths, precipitous crags, and stunning natural vistas. Embark on a walking-ascending adventure from the North Peak, where you'll experience the thrill and majesty of this ancient mountain. Challenge yourself with the most dangerous plank walk along the cliff, attracting thrill-seekers from around the world.
As you ascend, take in the breathtaking scenery and explore meaningful scenic spots along the way. After reaching the summit, descend using the efficient cable car for a different perspective of the mountain's beauty. Marvel at the dramatic landscapes as you make your way down.
Mt. Huashan This day trip offers an unforgettable experience of Huashan Mountain's danger and magnificence, leaving you with lasting memories of this extraordinary natural wonder.
Last, your guide and driver will escort you to Huashan Train Station for the 1h high-speed train to Luoyang. When you arrive at Luoyang Train Station, the local driver will pick you up and transfer you to the local hotel.

- Day 4: Luoyang Highlights TourShaolin Temple, White Horse Temple
After breakfast, head to visit the Shaolin Temple, which is well-known as the birthplace of Chinese Zen Buddhism and Shaolin Martial Arts. You cannot wait for watching the Kongfu Show performance. The Shaolin Martial arts are an important part of the relics. Then, continue to visit the Pagoda Forest in the Shaolin Temple.
Shaolin Temple In the afternoon, pay a visit to White Horse Temple, established by Emperor Mingdi in the year 68AD. It is the first Buddhist temple in China, enjoying the reputation of being the No.1 Ancient Temple in China.
After the sightseeing, drive you back to your hotel.

- Day 5: Luoyang Day TourLongmen Grottoes, Lijingmen Street
Today, we will visit the famous Longmen Grottoes, a treasure house of ancient stone-carving art with more than 100,000 stone statues here. It is one of the three most valuable Buddhist Cave and rack carvings in China. After lunch, continue your visit to Luoyang Museum, which is a historical museum of China, housing 1,700 cultural and historical relics in 5 showrooms.
Finish today's tour at Lijingmen Street. It is not like the modern and beautiful food streets of other cities you have visited,
Longmen Grottoes but with well-preserved old buildings, and natural & authentic features. In addition to local delicacies, here you can get a glimpse of the long history and culture of Luoyang.
